Hi all,
I don't know if you've tried this... I guess many did...
but it worked like a sharm for me with tired fingers.
With key sensitivity set to zero (so all keys sound at the same level (127) ) and with a mono lead... press the sustain pedal... and play your fastest solo... you will fly over the keys... and the best part is that you'll be impressed if you hear the recording later
Enjoy

I know, but doing that is very bad. In the long run you'll be messing up your technique because you think you can play so good, so you'll care less about everything. Its sounding right... right?
You'll hear the difference between a newbie player and a more skilled one as soon as you push out the solo-button, let go of the pedal, and put touchsensivity back to 100.

 Hej,
Usually this is what I do (TS 100 and No pedal)... but playing some fast runs on 160BPM it sounds impressive... on the other hand... till the time you start mastering the keys (while practicing at home) you can use it now... and loose the habit later...
Thanks a million for the advice you're 1000% right... So uless you're tired and you feel that you can't play fast... Use it.
Tack Så Mycket

(doing that all the time) ,maybe not....
I've noticed that too, but not too many of my lead sounds have velocity
change if i press keys harder/softer. And doing your best solo? Maybe
shredding is not the best you can, when i found that it's so easy to shred
with harmonic minor scale, i impressed my band mates awhile, but after
5-10 seconds it starts to sound really bad. Therefore , if i shred, i do it:
-Other than harmonic minor (i don't know what is bothering me on this scale)
-short passages
-with good taste
(oh, maybe this is how i want to play, but reality is other, when soloing
"on-live" in our band rehearsals, i run out of ideas, and fill the empty parts
shredding  ...) Not the best habit.

Lol I must confess I've done that some times  . But my lead's velocity sensitivity is always in 127 :? .. Whatever...

Wow, there is people who buy DX nowadays! Where did you buy it? from Finland?
Yeah ,I think this dx-7 mafia is only a counter-activist-mafia for casio mafia (ruled
by LS). Yeah you can join us (or better, me, i think i'm alone with my mafia) today
only for 5$ and then there is only 100$ annual charge...

I wanna join too!
About soloing: I mostly pick melodic minor or blues scales. sometimes some oriental sounding ones... I play not so fast, but rather use Aftertouch, Modwheel and Pitch Wheel. My bandmate doesn't like shredding :(

I do this a lot when I solo, BUT I do not use the sustain pedal !, I use my right hand thumb as a pivot to hold a note down and then start tapping notes with my left hand and right hand fingers and shift my thumb position as I go up and down the keyboard, the results sound impressive but with very little effort. :D
Here's a short demo of this technique going up and down the keyboard.

Best used in moderation though. If a guitarist were to do the same thing, they'd have to be a monster twohand tapper but this is way more easier for a keyboardist to do....

most synth leads have no key sensativity/ are mono phonic. I too did this when I discovered the harmonic minor scale (OmG sUpEr ShReD AttAcK!! liKe YngWie BiLlIon NoTe ChAoS!!!!!!1) but it was just stupid really, listening back latter it just sounded like it had no point to it/was someone who couldnt play. work on making cool solos with memorable parts, not some garbled nonsense.

Early Synths like Minimoog / big Moog had no key sensitivty. Still, Eremson, Wakeman, Hammer & co. played some nice solos, but they did not shr3d so much, so they are n00bs! :D
The DX7 can't create "the" Monster Lead, it can do some cool drones instead :D Long live 6 Sine waves! Whoo, 666! Evil!

Some times it is more a show rather then shreding...and 10000 note/sec
The good thing about it is that you can do some crazy arpegios on 4 octaves with 165 BPM 1/16 with jumping hands (if you know what I mean)
I tried it on saturday and the people loved it 8) e.g. C1 G1 A2 D3 C2 G2 A2 E3 A3 C4 G4 A4 E4 C3 G3 F2 , eventhough you can program your arpegiator... but feels more fun.
