i was overdosed on another Starbucks Chai Creme Frappucino in my school's library, supposed to be doing some studying when i came to another brilliant idea. brace yourselves....

okay, you know how there is the keyboard wizardry book how it goes into technique and stuff as far as keyboarding goes? well what about a Jordan Rudess Cookbook? It could be called "Cooking With Jordan". I know what your thinking, most of us guys dont cook. but i dont mean for it to be a real cookbook. Think of the keyboard or synth as an oven or a kitchen perhaps. Jordan is the chef. In the "cookbook", jordan explains helpful hints or "recipies" on how to create awesome sounds on the synth and will give you suggestions of the right amounts of certain spices and other ingredients to add to your synthesizer soup. Think about it, its an awesome idea. On the cover could be Jordan with a Chef's hat on and an apron in the kitchen holding a bowl and big wooden spoon smiling happily into the camera.

okay, maybe the cookbook would be a little too much for some, so i think it would be cool nonetheless for there to be a section on the OC maybe in the future with his hints on how to create lead sounds. not for any specific synth or for any specific lead sound, but it would be neat to hear the basics of the science from the best.

now, who else is hungry? :D

personally, i think that would be an EXCELLENT idea...probably just as or more helpful than a book of keyboard techniques, at least for those players who advanced enough to start more worrying about sound production in addition to the notes you're playing...and seeing as how JR worked for Korg and Kurzweil doing a lot of programming, I think it would totally make sense for him to come with a sort of "Dummies" guide to keyboard programming, from the beginners stuff to the advanced.

Well, a real cookbook sounds good to me! I'm always hungry.

There's nothing wrong with guys cooking anyway. (And it'd be interesting knowing Jordan's favorites)

Actually, I'd love to see this as a compilation of articles written specifically for this cookbook, by a variety of keyboardists. Contact Wakeman, Emerson, Corea, Johansson, et. al. and have them submit their recipes and baking tips. I'd sure as heck buy it.

Being a relative newbie to creating pads and leads on the synth, i think the cooking with Jordan is an amazing idea! It would be awesome to take a look into how a master manipulates his science!

i kinda feel bad posting this now...even though it was in september (september 11th at that heh). i dunno, i was just thinking about the song "never enough" just on this octavarium masterpiece. was hoping that my first post didnt give off a notion that i wasnt that appreciative of all jordan has already done for us. in a way i guess it could be seen as me just sayin all this isnt enough, we need a cookbook! hehe. didnt really think of this when i was posting it, but if i gave off that vibe, i'm sorry. jordan has done more than enough for us fans. from keyfest, to keyboard wizardry movies and books, to the O freaking C. and not to mention the awesome album's he's put out both solo and with DT. this cookbook thing was just an idea i had, and since nobody would read my cookbook :( i thought i'd pose the idea here in case anyone liked it heh.

anyways, octavarium rocks man. lovin it! yeah, couldnt think of anything else to say and was listening to it just now so what the heck. i'm about to leave for the airport to go to michigan, and octavarium is actually the ONLY album i'm bringing. i dont own an mp3 player, so i'im bringing a portable cd player with just octavarium. yay.

I don't see any reason to feel guilty at all. The topic has absolutely nothing to do with saying JR doesn't do enough for the fans, it's just a cool idea that would be helpful to all keyboard players.

as long as jordan doesn't actually appear naked in it. I mean i like the guy but i don't think i could hack that.....

i wonder if Jordan can cook? i mean real food obviously? some guys (not including me i hasten to add) seem inept at cooking, but Jordan is intelligent so surely he can? maybe somebody should ask that in the interview lol
