Yes, I know, the marker shouldn't be within the reach of a two year old, but I slipped. I left it next to the computer after burning a CD. I'm a good father, really!!

Anyway, I tried rubbing alcohol, and I tried nail polish remover. It dulled it, but didn't get rid of it. It's your typical plastic key keyboard (Alesis QS6).

Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions? New keybed?

Well I've never experienced sharpies on a keyboard but I do know that "Brake Clean" will remove indelible ink. I'd start with a little sprayed on a rag and try a small area...probably as far left on the board as possible and rub lightly...if it works wait for the brake clean to evaporate(speed this process by blowing on it)...check to make sure the chemical wont "soften" the plastic before moving on to the rest of the board....
or you could just mark 'em all black...that'd look cool...LMAO

Try WD-40 :)

In order to continue your career as a good father, go for a water-soluble marker for your CDs in future, it may not hold for years but I guess your burnt CDs won't live forever either ...

Next, check out the ingredients of your marker and go for an appropriate cleaning product in the next supermarket; there are 1,000s of such product, each one designed against a given ingredient.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Unless you seal the plastic keys with an air-tight laminate, the marker spots should fade to nothing within a year or two. I have some autographs on my keyboard, which are slowly fading out because of this. I've seen some plastic autographed tremolo spring covers (on guitars) that have returned (nearly) to their original state just by contact with air over time as well.

Sharpies just don't work well on plastic.

Hey, I remember I tried to clean something off my old keyboard with some acrylate-something liquid, and now a few keys feel like sandpaper... :? so just be careful, and try it on some place that cannot be seen, as somebody already mentioned...

Paint your white keys to black and black keys to white, make it look like a harpsichord.
