Hey Everyone,
I just found out about the BEST piano softsynth out there (20gb of samples totaling to 3500 samples). Jordan Rudess has a demo using this software.
Enjoy!

That Bosendorfer has virtually no body in the low end, which is unlike most real-life Boesies.
I'll pass.

Did you listen to the demo through real speakers? I thought it had plenty of bottom, although, oddly, Jordan's demo clip only has the right channel present.
Honestly, when I heard Jordan play the instrument in his studio a couple of weeks ago, I thought it was the best virtual piano I'd ever heard.

Synthogy's Ivory is, HANDS DOWN, the best
virtual grand piano out there....period.

I've a set of bi-amped M-Audio BX-5s along with the SBX subwoofer, so I suppose you could call them real speakers. They're certainly not $4000 monitors, but who honestly needs them in their own home? :P
Jordan's clip is showing stereo here. There are two discrete channels going on, so it's definintely not a "right channel only" or mono clip. The peaks -are- different when the file is opened up in an audio editor. There is also obvious panning from bass to treble at the very beginning of the file. Maybe there's something wrong with your monitoring setup?
In any case, based on Jordan's demo, I'll stick with William Coakley's Perfect Piano. There's a lack of presence and body in this Ivory stuff, which I suppose some people would like for 'cutting through the mix' purposes, but it's just not for me.

Those are real speakers, certainly - I meant as opposed to the standard computer desktop speakers.
And, as it happens, there was something wrong with the monitoring system where I first listened to the clip - when I listened at home and viewed it in a waveform editor, clearly both channels were there.
At any rate, to each his own, as the man said when he kissed the cow - the Coakley piano is very nice, too, I've heard.

Sounds really good to me! I have yet to check out the Steinway D demos as well as the C7 ones, when they are up.

I'm a regular at the Keyboard Magazine's online forum and there was a _very_ big discussion at their forum earlier this year.
link to Keyboard thread (http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/ubb/get_topic/f/18/t/014927/p/1.html)
The above link will be an interesting thread to read. I have very personal reasons for posting here, but don't let those reasons interfere with reading that thread in its entirety (and others there as well). You might want to pour yourself a drink and sit back for a few minutes.
Enjoy. Thanks, Dave Horne
