Just kinda wondering if any of you are music teachers public or private.
I just got hired as an Elementary Music teacher. I'm starting in two weeks. I'm also a private teacher, currently of Percussion, Piano, and Flute...yes flute.
And I just got some new things on my plate-transcribing wise :) I'm pretty damn excited about this school gig, as well as overwhelmed with stuff I have to do to prepared. If there are any teachers in the house please share some tips, tricks, antecdotes (sp). Thanks.

I'm teacher too. I'm teaching piano and keyboards, two days a week. You can learn a lot from your students. It's a great job !
greetings Marco
I want to be a music teacher...does that count ;)

Heh, what Ael said. I'd like to teach private lessons someday, as well as something at the high school or college level. I'd like to teach a jazz class or conduct an orchestra...maybe even do both, just because I am that cool.

I'd like to know how to play the violin. And I don't mean on a keyboard. I love uptempo Irish ballads and playing them on the violin would be outstanding :D or even classical music...I think Violin and Piano are definitely the widest instruments at a conservatory level.
Deceit.

i'm a volunteer and i give free piano, keyboard and music theory lessons to children who were in the streets, i also have some paying students, but you would't believe the level of dedication of the kids i teach voluntarily compared to my paying clients. i say that teaching is even more fulfilling to me than playing to a crowd of 10.000+

I'm beginning my student teaching in a week, so I'll be getting my music Ed degree in December. I'll be prusuing my band after that, but majoring in music education has opened my eyes in so many ways. From working with kids, how music functions to so many people, and how it can help reflect everyday life. Even if I never get a teaching position the knowledge/experiences I picked up have been very valuable.
