Well, first of all, I want to say HELLO to all of the nice persons that are inside this forum, I've been checking it for a year or so, but I've never posted anything. I've learn a lot just by reading your posts.
I want to introduce myself:
My name is Alfredo, i'm 18 years old, i'm Venezuelan and have been playing classical piano for 13 years now and I've been playing keyboards for 1 year and a half, but using a nice board for playing, Yamaha PSR-something, but it's not a synth and I really feel I need one (though it has helped me in understanding a lot of things about keyboards and the way they work). The parts I actually want to learn is the good things about synths, because I've pretty much covered the technical part.
Now, I know that this has been asked A LOT, probably ad-nauseum, but I need to have you opinions on this: since I've been looking for a good synth to work with, I've checked a lot of things and narrowed down to a Yamaha, i've been thinking of getting a Yamaha S90 or maybe a good 88 keys MIDI controller, the M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 looks nice along with the Motif rack, I'm really confused and don't know wich one would be better for me, my budget's on the 2000$ and the thing I need the most is good presets, because I'm more of a preset player, though I'd like to tweak them a little bit so they sound the way I want them to sound, a good piano feel on the keys (I need that because I just can't get used to play on non-weighted keys) and something that's not that hard to learn to use and program.
Thanks in advance for the help you can give me, and sorry for asking this, I know that a lot of you are already sick of this kind of questions, but I'm just desperate! :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Motif and the S90 share the exact same sound engine, the Motif just adds a sequencer and sampling capabilities.

If you think you'll use these features, then the rack+controller would probably be more bang for the buck:

Yamaha S90: $1995

Yamaha Motif Rack: $995
StudioLogic TMK88 Controller: $299

Bienvenido!!, nice to see the number of latinamericans increasing over here!
Let`s go to your question. With that budget I recommend you to buy yourself a good rack and a controller. For rack I`ll suggest the Motif Rack ($1000) or the Triton rack ($1500). That gives you enough money to buy yourself a good controller, maybe the Studiologic SL990 ($400) or the M- Audio keystation pro88 ($500). Cause you`re a piano player I`ll say go for the Studiologic, cause it has a more realistic piano feel...though I like the keystation pro action too.

The reason why I recommend you to buy a rack and a controller is that you`ll have the same sounds and posibilities than with a Triton studio88 ($3800), or with a Motif Es 8 ($3000).....

My 2cents anyway..... :D

Ehhh....The Triton Rack's great for synths, but some of the other voices you pay for aren't that great... Although, if you know how to sample or create your own synths, you're set.

If you were only looking for a synth, I'd say go all out and buy the Aleseis Andromeda. I always wanted one of those, but could never afford them :(

Well...the thing is that he wants 88 weighted keys and he said that he`s more of a preset player

Point conceded. Sorry about that

Yeah, then I guess go with the Motif and the Studiologic. The M-Audio controller's feel is rather lacking in my opinion.

Thank you very much for all of your advices, I'd be discussing this with my local dealer, and when I get what I'm going to buy, I'll let you guys now, and as soon as I get to use it for a recording, I'll post it in the show off forum.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

A Roland RD700 is also a nice choice - I've fallen in love with its sounds after the Yes concert last night - now I want one...
