The movie **K-PAX**

Very offtopic or maybe not..
Anyone seen this movie? Kevin Spacey does a magnificent job here. Its old by now, but its really great!

And it has a really cool soundtrack! Or shall I say musical score?
The music truely fits the images. Kind of industrial style with lots of piano tunes and strings and effects and some electronic drumbeats.

Im always amazed how filmcomposers can make such different styles, almost every filmscore sounds unique, however when you show them to a 'dumb' person who doesnt know a thing about music he'll always tell you they all sound 'alike'.

Either way, some really good material accompanies movies most of the time. And I dont mean the Soundtrack as in 'Jay-Lo's interpretation of the movie' and crap like that! I mean the music that accompanies the scenes, the pictures, the images.. and words

So far the most outstanding filmscores I've heard so far and can remember are:

- Gladiator
- Titanic
- The Ring
- K-Pax
- Lord of the Rings pt1,2+3
- The Matrix

I know, pretty much the basic movies everybody sees. But I aint got the € to buy them all or hire when they come out.

**Anyone know some others? Im just 100% sure im missing more of these goodies that are out there and I havent seen them yet.

**Anyone of you ever worked for a filmproduction? A Commercial? Something for TV or business presentation? Something related to audio made to accompany visuals, and want to share about it?

Lord of the Rings Soundtrack Rocks. Howard Shore is great.

Braveheart too, i agree.

The Last Samurai and the Forrest Gump soundtracks are very good too. Even though most of the Forrest Gump soundtrack is music from other bands, those songs are very good. The orchestrated part of the soundtrack has a nice theme to it too IMO.

I enjoyed "beatyful mind's" soundtrack, and "amelia's" was nice too - it had something of Debussy's style. All in all both of them were from france ;)

It reminded me a story, which happened to me when hiring a DVD. A guy who worked there knew I had something with music, so he asked me if I recognized a piece from "Pianist's" soundtrack. It was moonlight sonata. He wanted to play it, so I bring him the score. Later he showed me a piece of "Chopin - pragnienie milosci" (polish movie about F. Chopin's life) and that was patatique sonata - and then he one more time asked me for a score... when I bring them to him he hired me a movie for free ;) What a pitty he doesn't work there any more :(

Of course who can forget Danny Elfman. Almost everything he does is great,

Batman
Sleepy Hollow
Beetleguise
Big Fish
Edward Scissor Hands
Nightmare Before Christmas
Simpsons Theme(not a movie but still great)

The list goes on and on for him. Oh, I also like the score to Robin Hood with Kevin Kostner.
