I see your playing has really improved a lot, so has your composition skills. Its very changing, and -very- original. I think musical wise you did a really great job with this! Your technique is also great.
I got a bit put off by the intro parts, use different instrumentation there 'cause they just dont sound right togheter, in my opinion. Get the attention of the listener, and dont get them to click on the 'X'-icon of their winamp player...
As soon as it progresses it turns better and better though!
But man, if you could just get it to record it with some kickass synths it would sound really cool. Right now i dont like the patches at all. They totally suck, they're empty, dont have power in them, sound thin and cheap. CHEESYWEESY!!! First thought it was because you recorded in mono sound, but after using headphones i found out it was all stereo.
Perhaps use a softsynth instead untill you can afford something better. Then, it'll turn out great!

Well I recorded it on a $4000 trinity but yeah I should look into something more expensive. I thought the bass clarinet sounded really full and realistic. The piano is good. The drums sound AWESOME. The symbols are clean and cut through the mix. I like the lead patch and the special effects. I didn't use any master effects on the final mix, maybe later but, I guess it's all in the interpretation. *shrugs*

I like it. Kinda reminds me of ELP a bit. For what they are, I think the patches sound great. Maybe a bit unexpected, but I love that. Plus, the pads are wonderful. The only possible thing I could suggest would be a little quantizing near the beginning. Some of the interplay between the piano and the drums jumbles a bit.
But it sounds great! I'd like to hear more

I like your work very much, man! You just need a couple of FXs to add and...you're done with impressive work...
How did you program the drums? Oh ok, just saw your site...no programming :( drums are the step I'm missing for my solo composition...
The quality of your work is fantastic, and you're a very talented keyboardist as well.

Noooo there was MAJOR programming involved with the drums. That's one of the things I like about this clip. It took me several hours but I rebuilt all my major drums kit programs to give me more of a kit feel. As you know, each key represents ONE DRUM SOUND in a program. But, on a kit, you play each drum with two hands or two feet. So I sat down and assinged adjacent keys the SAME SOUND. That way its more like playing a real kit. So I have my kick drums assinged to two keys, then next to that my snare, then inside I have two simmonz like toms, then as you go out I have my cymbals. With the right stretch, you can hit your kick drums AND the cymbals just like a real kit. The result is, it sounds and FEELS like a drumset. I'm still working on getting a true feel when the fills come in, the rest of the kit should stop sounding. Maybe the next clip.
Thanks for the comments.

Thanx. Yep, I'm totally into Yes. I think the part at the end where the sound effects bleed over into the drum fill just before the keyboards kick in again totally sounds like Tales from Topographical Oceans. Also in the begining, the minstrel part with the bass clarinet was totally influenced by GENESIS, with Peter Gabriel.
This piece was made up of rhythms and melodies that I came up with years ago. I just redid them using better equipment. The idea of this piece was to use instruments I played as a kid. So I included a 12 string guitar, a reocrder, a bass clarinet and of course the keyboard...
It definitely has an *odd* structure. I was listening to it today....

I've got another couple of clips coming. More orchestral than this one. I'm working on the guitar solo. I'm trying to blend the styles of neo classical guitar heroes with the simplicity of Steve Hackett from Genesis. :D
