If you could pick a dt member for your band, which one would u choose??
I would choose JL because I just CANT find a good singer... anyways am a keyboardist therefore i cant choose JR and the rest of my bandmates are ok...

I chose JP, 'cause:
1. I'm a keyboardist myself, so no JR.
2. We have an amazing drummer and a good bass player (although he has bad sounds, but so does JM :))
3. We don't need a man singer.
4. So I would pick JP because of his ultimate technique and beautiful sounds.

I'd choose JR:
He can play guitar, and come up with kickass keyboard parts for me to play. :)

A lot of these guys on the forum are already
keyboardists so I can see why JP would be
more in demand.

I'd choose myung, so he could just shuttup and do as i say.
oh and...groovy basslines combined with keyboard are cool too :)
I like it when doubling bass+keys, especially with some cool acid lead or smth. In DOE jordan does that a lot, though not the acid lead, but his JR lead heh.
Most of the examples you can find in ToT.
If I'd choose JR to be in the band I think ill feel out of the boat haha :P
Also, it'll probably turn out to some incredibly magnificent that the rest of the members would have trouble with to play.
I'd choose Mike just cause everytime I jam with friends or we all get together and play we NEVER have a drummer, which sucks a lot to be playing keyboard drums - or usually I'll end up going on my brother's basic drumkit and just playing a steady beat so we all feel like we have a drummer...so I'll take Mike for 500 so I'd never have this problem again :D

Either Jordan or Mike.
Apart from being a generally really nice guy, Jordan seems very creative and versatile and I think making any sort of music with him would be a great experience.
And I think Mike has a great ear for arranging stuff (as you can see on the Transatlantic making of video) and he is definitely someone I would love to work with to see what he can improve about my playing and compositions.

I would have to go with having Petrucci in my band if I was on keys. There could be some very cool jamming stuff there. Jeez, now that I think about it, that would be awesome!

Jordan....
I'm a guitarist, my brother bassist. I know a handful of good drummers here... Keyboardists are hard to find where I live. And one with Jordans quality I probably will never get lucky to find....
Second option would be Labrie... Vocalists are hard also... But I chose Jordan cuz instrumental part is my priority.

Uhhh!!!
Well.... my pick is between MP and Jordan. Jordan is very versatile, creative and has great musical taste. Personally I think I´d learn tons from him.
MP... well the man has a insane amount of energy, he rocks in his instrument and I think it would be very interesting for me personally to interact off stage with him... I´d love to have long talks about movies and music with him.
I admire JP, but I´m a guitar player so... sorry John, but you´re not required in the band, but you can jam with us when you want, babe.
James, well I love his voice but I think I´m in need of a drummer or keyboardist than a vocalist.
JM... man I had to choose!! I don´t mean to let the man out of the band, but I have to choose.

Portnoy;
All you guys are focusing on who you'd pick just because of who you NEED, but I think this is a great question on the grounds of who you think is best suited to [and really understands] their craft, and most importantly, most geared styewise to what you want. Jordan would duplicate me, James is not quite the type of singer I would want (though close), JM doesn't have the personality/stage presence I would want, and JP overplays way too much, and doesn't have quite enough soul. That said, of course, DT IS basically the best band since sliced bread, so you all must understand I'm only nitpicking...hardly anyone can touch any of these guys, with some exceptions....
BUT, MP has great personality, great chops, great drive, great style, but equally important that I think the others lack a bit, is GREAT FEEL. He can beat the shit out of the drums and still "out - technique" almost anyone (again, with some exceptions....). Now THAT's a band member for me!
Portnoy.
I play guitar and if I had the choice of who to jam with and it could only be one DT member it would be Mike Portnoy. James 2nd, Jordan 3rd.
Pretrucci would just put me to shame and Myung would end up just talking endlessly.
Just a preference, I prefer to jam with drummers or singers as I can play keys and bass on recordings. That's how I usually form a band.
