What do you think about this controller?
Is a cheap version of th PC2X I guess-
How are the sounds? Do you know where can I listen to samples?
PC1X Vs. SP88X
thanks...

I think that the PC2s are only the new version of the PC1 - I think you get good information on www.kurzweilmusicsystems.com

Emailed Kurzweil, here's the reply:
Thank you for your interest in Kurzweil products.
The PC1X has the same piano sound as the PC2X, which is the same as the 2600 with ROM 3 added.** A stock 2600 without ROM3 has only the hard strike set of samples. ROM 3 for the 2600 addes the medium and soft strike set of samples.* The PC2 and PC1X has all three, so it is a "triple strike" piano - a separate set of samples for hard, medium, and soft strike (velocity).
The action is very similar to that of a 2600X.
The Orchestral ROM* is exactly the same for the PC2X and PC1X.
The PC1X has the same set of programs as the PC2, but without the KB3 mode programs. I copied a partial list below.
If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
=============
The PC1X has just begun shipping to dealers. Dealers should have them within a few weeks.
The action of the PC1X is VERY similar to the PC2X - it is an 88 note, fully weighted action. The only difference is that the keyboard in the PC2X is made with a stronger type of plastic, so you'll be less likely to break keys if you drop it, etc.
The PC1X has the same base ROM programs as the PC2, but it does not have KB3 mode.
The PC1X weighs 51 lbs without packaging.
PC1X Dimensions:
Height: 4-5/16": (110mm)
Width: 47 - 7/8" (1220mm)
Depth: 14 - 3/16" (360mm)
The features of PC-1X:
Base 256+Orchestra 128+GM 128 programs and 64 setups
88 note TP30 AFT with mono pressure keyboard

64 voice polyphony without polyphony expansion option
Arpeggiator
User controllable EQ
2x20 character LCD display
1 dual switch pedal input
1 expression pedal input
1 Super ribbon controller input

4 assignable switches and knobs
1 balanced, stereo analog output
1 headphone jack
32MB of sample ROM (4 64Mb chips)

No problem!
Seems strange that Kurzweil is so hush-hush about a new product. I have seen one ad for it, but it's non-existant on the internet.
On a side note, why is the Kurz site so fugly and outdated?

oops...
I meant to say that I'm all over this one. It looks like the perfect compliment to my k2000(88 keys, kdfx, triple strike, orchestral w/ room for vintage rom) without having to spend 2k plus for it(especially since I love the VAST and can't afford a k2600 for a while).

Not surprising, being that the Orchestral ROM for the K2xx series is from 1991 and uses 16-bit samples (although still incredibly good ones) while the PC series Orch ROM is from 2001(?) and uses new 24-bit samples.

These is weird I'd be following your post since you post it (2003) I'd have assumed that you have bought either a pc1x or a pc2....
I have a pc1-x and I think it's great. and about the keys I don't think they are "lighter" they seem fine to me I would'n want to them to be heavier.there are fine.
And If you have $2000 ( I'm assuming that cause you are deciding from a pc1-x and a pc2-x wich is like $1800...) I'd consider other board. just my opinion but I don't know what you're seraching for...

Nope, the PC2s came out earlier than the PC1X. The latter is rather a compromise between the SP88X and the PC2X.

Yes!.. I'm thinking about that.. I found a Yamaha S90 at the same price as the Kurzweil PC2X ...I like it sounds, the synth engine, the expansions bu I'm worried about the polyphony.. it have 64 voices of polyphony and I don't know if the polyphony technology works as the Kurzweil true polyphony....
Someone can help me? I have my pre-pay card! So, I will subscribe to the online conservatory as well!

Well In the PCx series I don't think they have the True poliphony like the K2*** that you have 4 oscillator per voice. So I think that would be great.BUt If you're looking for a master controller I think a PC1-x would be enough but I think you're not 'cause you're asking for sounds. COnsidering that you already own a K2000, I'd buy the Yamaha or a k2500xs. Cause I don't think pc2-x sounds are greater than the k2000 excepts for strings and those things....
