Closing this chapter is difficult because Mike and I are really close friends, have been great musical partners and he has been a vital part of Dream Theater. Still, opening up the next chapter is really exciting because DT is full of ideas and energy about the future. *Mike is the ultimate rock drummer and I know he will be successful at whatever he does. Meanwhile, DT is moving forward quickly and looking forward to creating some great new music.

Thanks for the personal response Mr Rudess. My heart goes out to you and the other Dream Theater guys during this hard time, and I hope you can still make some epic progressive metal music, with an exciting new drummer in the future. All the best to you :)
We'll see you..... on the road.

Although it sucks to imagine DT without Portnoy after 25 years, we still have the J-Combo (John Petrucci, John Myung, Jordan Rudess and James Labrie)! Tell me any other band today with such fire power?
Thank you so much for being loyal to your fans in such hard time, it means a lot to us! And I'm sure you guys gonna find a really sweet person and BEAST drummer to keep making the best music in the world! Aside all sadness, this new chapter sounds really exciting and promising :)

Good luck Boss, we are all eager to see whats next!
GOOD LUCK Jordan!
i can't wait to listen to your new amazing solos in the new album!
thanks for keeping the Dream alive = D
best of luck to you , JP , JM & JLB!
I can say just one thing:
I love Jordan's solo albums more than recent 4 DT albums.
I love Petrucci's solo albums more than recent 4 DT albums.
I love LaBrie's solo albums more than recent 4 DT albums.
I dont know abut Myung projects.
So, if these people let just a little bit more of this selves into DT, it will be prog heaven for me for sure.
So GO GO GO guys, it's news of the year for me, you have my FULL SUPPORT!!!

Hi jordan, indeed this is a change and we will see what this bring musically speaking. I'm sure
you all will continue to give to us a great music and maybe a more 70's progressive kind of music more progressive than metal. Yuo really are my favorite band as a band you know,
the five of you with MP too. You know what i really miss will be the link, the connection, the bond within the band as i always imagined it. An unique entity full of ideas, inspiration and capable to send all this feeling, inspiration and ideas to all of us, your faithful fans, allover the world, each and every album, each end every song. This is what i'll really miss.
Indeed I'll follow you with an open mind and lots of curiosity as i always did.
For sure is the end of an era in DT music.
But , why didn't you take a break, as MP suggested, I'm curious ??
Best regards
Peppe

I guess DT is on a roll right now, having some huge gigs and attending big audiences.
So businesswise it's smarter to continue when you're in the spotlights.
On the other they just could be in top shape creative wise, and don't want to spoil that.

Hello Jordan , we have a Dream Theater cover band : Khimaira Project, and I follow DT since 1993, every day, all the time.....you are everything to me
I do not know if DT can still exist without Mike, no that I do not believe in your virtuoso musician power. the thing is that as a musician, arranger, I have seen many band going trough similar disaster, and they would never be the same band ( alice in chains, ozric tentacles, ), the thing is that Mike wanted to write Metropolis Part 3 The resurrection of the Sleeper, but he wanted to do it with DT, and maibe he wanted a break , to be able and write the final epic progressive metal piece of history, but he did not find his DT with the same ideas . and tougths???!!

Jeeez... What? Metro3? What drugs are you on? Haha
Anyway, if they want to write Metro3, believe me, they will write it very easily WITHOUT Mike too.
Metro2 was written mainly by Jordan, Petrucci, Myung. You know, these are the people who are responsible for the NOTES, the MELODIES, the stuff you remember and hum walking on the street. You know, the spirit carries on guitar solo was written by John, not Mike :) And the piano stuff in About to Crash was written by Jordan, not Mike :)
Everyone hails Mike as the main songwriter and everybody is devastated that what will happen without Mike... NOTHING. Imagine mixing down the drumtracks from Metro2, and lets say, SDoIT and you get DT now, and we will miss Mike that much. NOTHING MORE.
These people could make a masterpiece album just for improvising for an hour. I cannot imagine why would they miss a drummer if we look just the composing side. Anyone of them could write the drumtracks for the new DT stuff even if they cannot find a drummer with ideas.
So, yeah, go ahead with Metro3, I vote for that

Good luck, look forward to what you do nect!
When I heard the news of DT moving on without MP I was and still am shocked.
He felt the last few albums have been lacking in someways and a break would pave way for a grand return to new re-inspired DT music. The rest disagreed and decided to move on without MP. That truly is heartbreaking. Many bands take a hiatus and return stronger than ever. Not being a doubter, just mixed emotions here because I agree with MP's point of view.
The Albums WDADU, A&W, Awake and SFAM are my all-time favorite DT, at some point the endless touring and releasing a new studio album yearly became almost formulated (with many nice jems) but still not as powerful as earlier albums.
Absolutely disliked the direction of "Dark Master, I will follow you" everytime I would hear it I would jump for the remote as if it was a bad omen to avoid.
In the last few years I've been way more excited with DT inspired bands like Pagan's Mind and Circus Maximus.
Hoping the day comes where DT reunites with MP and the wounds didn't cut too deep.
