Hey people,

a friend of mine is currently searching for a new guitar amp.
I have no idea of that stuff, but I'm confident that some of you here can help me out with that. ;)

He can spend something around 350 bucks and he wants at least 25w...

If you need any further information, just post.

Thanks in advance,

your a-bit-drunk-maJ :)

I think for that kinda money, your friend would not go wrong with either a Vox AD30VT or a Line 6 Spider II (a new 30w version has just come out for around $265). Both have 30w output, built in effects and various types of amp models, the Line 6 is better suited for live use as its got four channels against the Vox's two channels. THe Vox has a real tube inside where as the Line 6 is pure digital modelling. Both have great versatility. :D

Thank you for your hints!

What I forgot to add is that he'd prefer a new machine, but he'd also get one at ebay if it makes sense.

The Spider II is a really versatile amp - I have one and love it. It really nails that Fender clean tone, as well as providing more contemporary sounds (Rectifier, so on). The onboard effects are pretty poor, but you don't buy an amp for its effects. :)

You can also add up to 8 channels by purchasing a Line 6 FBV floor board.

Really depends on the style and the kind of tone he is looking for.

Laney makes really great sounding amps for pretty cheap. There are some good Crates out there. Fender stuff is notorious for being really loud and clean. Tell your friend to go on ebay and search for "guitar amp" within his price range, and then go to harmony central and read up on reviews of those amps.

Check out this link.
I don't know the cost on these, but I just did a reunion gig and both guitar players had them instead of any onstage amps: (Everything through the monitors)

And they sounded fantastic !
