So I just got a used Kurzweil K2VX and I'm looking for a sound system loud enough to be heard over a drummer. I'm not looking for professional quality necessarily, as I won't be playing shows, I'm just looking for a good system to jam with.
Right now, I'm hooked into an extremely cheap stereo system via RCA to mono.
Any ideas and input appreciated, thanks a lot!

Take a look at this:
http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/K1800FX.aspx
This is a nice keyboard amp which we use at my school, and it can be pretty damn loud when you want. It's got three seperate channels and a mixer on board, so it's not bad just for rehearsals and jamming. If you're not a fan of Behringer because you think it's a "cheap" brand, reconsider because this thing is a tank, and actually is quite nice, believe me. Have a look and see what you think :)

HELL NO......
NO NO NO..
NO.....
i blew up mine twice, without really pushing it and im sure other people in the forum blew up theirs, search the internet for other horror stories, it's disposable at best. ohh roland's KC-series is shitty too so don't go there either
i know its very tempting because of the price, and it's not bad looking, but dont fall for that trap, since money is probably an issue i would recomend a used JBL EON G2 better sounding, reliable, and cheap for what it is, otoh if you can affort it, a traynor K4 or QSC's K-series Speakers.
try searching the forum, plenty of amp threads on it
Guys Can i get some back up on this please before he does something wrong ..... like buying one....

Shit, sorry guys :S
Didn't know there was that much shit associated with the amp. I've never had a problem with it at school and mind u this thing gets banged around by little shits who come into the music block mucking around and turning all the knobs up to ten and whatnot, and we've never had a problem.
But Maximus you seem like a pretty experienced guy so I'll take your word for it.

I can really back that up (though not from personal experience) as a fellow keyboardist blew his pretty soon.
The thing with Behringer is that you CAN be lucky and get a good unit, but quite likely you wonŽt be.
In addition to the good amps Maximus already suggested IŽd like to add the Hartke KM amps (KM100, KM200), you might even get your hand on a used one in good shape. Tried them a couple of times and liked them quite a lot.

If you're looking for something really cheap, I actually used a bass amp for a while and it sounded pretty good. A little bit of the high end gets lost, but it really gives your low end a kick in the balls. And bass amps tend to run a little cheaper than keyboard amps.
Other than that I know a lot of people like the Roland KC Series (http://www.google.com/products?q=roland+keyboard+amp&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&scoring=p&show=dd&sa=N&lnk=next&start=10), but they can get kind of expensive.
Anyway, it's up to you.
