Is it possible to use a musical keyboard ,plug it into my computer and have it use the synths and sounds on my computer's own soundcard,in a sense bypassing its own soundcard for the computer's? Or possibly there is a program that will do this. It would take the signals from the keyboard and use the appropriate sound from the soundcards database. I am asking this because sadly my sound card has better synths and piano sounds than my keyboard. If this is possible ,how would one do this ? Any help is greatly appreciated.
[Edit :I am aware there is a way of using my typing keyboard to do this but it is not the same feel, bad habbit forming ,and it doesnt process everything fast enought.]

Hello There,
MIDI.... That's all...
If your KB has a MIDI IN/OUT.... connect your MIDI OUT to PC MIDI IN and MID IN to PC MIDI OUT (even though you're not interrested to use KB sounds)
If You don't have a MIDI IN/OUT on your sound card... get yourself a MIDI to Joystick cable (15$)... Now In any Progam you are using configure your MIDI IN to the PC MIDI IN
and OUT to SOUND CARD Synth select MIDI IN to Channel "ANY" or pick a Channel number between 1&16 and let it be the same on you KB.
You are now ready to go... so turn down the volume on your KB and
Now if you are using a NON MIDI KB... you're sacked... Try "Melodyne"
www.celemony.com you can record your Audio and then use it as a MIDI trigger.
Enjoy.

Directly to translate from Audio to midi...ummm there are some programs...but mostly not that good....
My sugestion is to buy a 150$ Casio with MIDI In/OUT... or a small Ediroll Midi controler.
All the Best
