I'm thinking about making some videos on good finger exercises for keyboard.
Scale: C Roumanian Minor - 4/4 Time
A - C - Eb - C - G - C - Eb - C - Gb - C - Eb - C - (Gb - A - Gb) - Eb - Gb
5 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 4 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 3 - 1 - 2 - 1 - (3 - 5 - 2) - 1 - 2
1234-1234-1234-1-(234)-5
The notes in parenthesis are triplets. If you use the fingerings I listed you will be set up for the next inversion of Cdim7, so it's a great continuous
exercise with a bit of finger spacing variety. It also uses every finger.
I really like that fingering combo and it brings your fingers to the next inversion of any 4 note chord. I also like using it in the Natural Minor scale
with the m7 chord.
Another thing I like to do is take any combination of 5 notes (in this example I'll use the same 5 from the first exercise, CEbGbGA).
A - C - Eb - C - G - C - Eb - C - Gb - C - Eb - C
In that exercise C - Eb - C (Fingers 1-2-1) is the recurring pattern. So let's make Fingers 2-3-2 the recurring pattern. So what you end
up with is:
A - Eb - Gb - Eb - G - Eb - Gb - Eb - C - Eb - Gb - Eb
Now Fingers 3-4-3:
A - Gb - G - Gb - G - Gb - G - Gb - C - Gb - G - Gb
Now Fingers 4-5-4:
Gb - G - A - G - Eb - G - A - G - C - G - A - G
If there's enough interest shown in this thread I will post a video on Youtube showing how to combine those last 4 sets into a continuous Roumanian Minor exercise! Well just the ascension part, still working on a descending part.
