OK, so Im still in dire need of a new keyboard, and one possibilty I wanna look at is a contoller with a module, and of course I need an amp.
Ive looked through the forum and nothing really gives a good detail on stuff.
So heres what I want...
I want a good 88 wieghted key controller, I want a module with sturdy sounds and possibly synth capable, and I want a good sounding loud enough amp.
All for under 1000$
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Doug

Under a grand might be a little difficult...
I can't really offer advice on what to buy, but I can tell you that it is probably gonna be over $1000. A good amp will be about $400-500 (or more), a good controller anywhere from $400 on up, and a good module about $800 on up, so you're looking at quite a bit more than $1000 if you want all that stuff.

I'll be brief and concise.
First of all. I don't like godsmack. They're nu metal. Hope you get past it.
Second of all. This is probably the best forum a rock keyboardist can happen into, since here's only the best of the best of the keyboardists out there. This means you find everything, you just have to ask. And this means as well that if you don't ask you can't say there's "no good detail on stuff" since we are all looking for DIFFERENT sounds and possibly an own style.
Third of all, here's your information.
The deal's hard. Under $1000 you MUST look on eBay. This means you can get:
Amplifier:

Module:

Master Keyboard:

$100 left for shipping - hope you're in the USA otherwise you're pretty f****d up dear.
Good luck.

liquid shadow's right...although the one thing i would tell you is...DON'T USE A KEYBOARD AMP...at least from my experience they all suck. I've owned a Peavey KB/A 300, I've tested out the Roland ones (which everyone raves about...i think they suck). Anyway, I think that keys really sound best through a PA system...but if you're just using your keyboard/module at home, just get some little studio monitors or even just some nice computer speakers (they can hook in through the headphone jack). just my two cents

Actually, you might want to look at Crate Keyboard amps. I use the KX-80. I agree, the roland keyboard amps are pretty muddy sounding. Here's what I like about the Crate KX-80 - The onboard eq is more granular:
You can adjust High mid seperate from mid or high, which I think is critical when getting your sound just right, especially piano patches.
I paid less than 300 for mine, so that leaves you 700.00. You may want to check ebay for used 88-key controller and a module, but it's going to be tight.
Good Luck !

Its always good to note down what the gear will be used for, e.g. gigging rig, studio rig or both, if its just for studio, I'd go for an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88, M-Audio DX5 monitors, M-Audio Firewire Audiophile and a copy of Reason 2.5 (I'm using this a lot lately). If its for gigging, then maybe a Fatar VMK88 (88 notes but semi-weighted keys) and a Roland XV2020 sound module with a roland K series amp. You should be able to get the above new and under a grand....without having to go to e-bay. Please note that this is what I would do if in your situation with your budget. Good luck with the gear buying.... :)

Deciet: I hate godsmack too, its just an old sn that i need to get rid of , but i am used to it.
Thanks all for the help, this is helpful for my looking around.
Also, how do you hook up computer speakers throught a keyboard? Mine has a subwoofer that supplies power, btw.3

I want to use my contoller and module for mostly gigs and practices, and seldom for studio and computer purposes. The Fatar VMK88 suggested is only semiweighted, and i want full weighted. The Keystation 88 is more for computer, is it not? What do you all suggest?
Thanks

The keystation pro88 does not have to be connected to a computer to use it, it can be powered by a 9v power supply as well as USB so you could use it to control your module away from a computer, The Pro88 has 10 memory locations for storing Controller assignments but if you're just controlling one module then you won't need much more than this. You could try looking at the Studiologic SL990XP, but you'll blow most of your budget which will leave you short for a module, unless maybe you go for a second hand module.
You could also try to find a new Alesis QS 8.2 keyboard, 88 hammer action keyboard and a good synth all in one which I believe is under $1000. You could also check out the Yamaha DGX505 keyboard, its an 88 note keyboard with lots of sounds, but you may not think its pro level enough. And I think that's me out of idea's now.... :)
