Ok,
How about this one,
Back in the early 90's I had the rare opportunity to hang out with Rick Wakeman and his son Adam. They were on the "Wakeman and Wakeman" tour, and my good friend was the keyboardist in the opening band. Of course when I found out about the show I begged him to let me work as his keyboard tech so I could hang out backstage and meet the Wakemans. I ended up getting to meet Rick and Adam, and I was able to get my cassette copy of "6 Wives" Autographed by the man himself. I can tell you that he is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life. I can't really remember what we talked about, but it was a nice visit.
:D

I`ve met Rick when he was down here in Costa Rica for the Return to the Center of the Earth tour....back in 98 I think......after the show he stayed to sign autographs to every one who wanted to approach....there was his whole band including Adam and Damian Wilson......I was able to talk with him a little and yes he`s an incredible person!
*I got my Journey to the Cener of the Earth Cd signed!!!!! :D

Cheers

I posted a review of DT's show in MN, met JR that night, and posted about it. Just check the thread. This was special, indeed. Too bad I won't make it to the MN show this time around. But that night was enough to hold me over until they come back around.

I'll have to tell my Symphony X story: :D (This was from the V tour, back in 2001)

As we're walking in the door to with our tickets, I notice this guy standing inside the door. I think, "Hey, that guy looks familiar..." then I do a double take and it's Mike LePond, greeting people as they come in! Then, as we enter the club, we see everbody else sitting at the back of the bar chatting with fans - very cool.

So we're standing around in the bar section having a drink, and we notice that Mike L. is standing by himself at the bar. So me, being the wuss that I am, tell my girlfriend to go over and start taking to him :) We got to chat with Mike for probably an hour, which was really awesome. The poor guy probably felt like he was on Barbera Walters, we grilled him so bad :) Mike was telling us how strange it was to sell out 6000 seat venues in Europe, but come to your home town and get less than 200 people. He also mentioned that (would you believe) he had never played prog metal before joining SymX, he was into old school metal like Judas Priest - apparently the odd-time stuff kind of blew his mind, but I think he does a hell of a good job now!

We mentioned that we had come down from Canada and he just thought that was amazing. We also told him that my girlfriend had done a 20th Century Music term paper on DWoT, which they thought was very cool. The boneheads we were, we forgot to bring a copy with us, but next time!

Some other tidbits:

- I didn't realize Jason was so short! :)
- Mike R. is a really nice guy in person - I always thought he would be a little scary :)
- Mike L. gave us a CD of a friend's band called "Exhibition" which is pretty cool, maybe I'll upload a track to the FTP server
- At one point Russell was sitting at the t-shirt table selling his own merchandise, which I thought was cool -- incedentally, his wife was working the table for most of the night

Needless to say, we preferred to stay and chat with Mike instead of watching the opening bands, so I can't really comment on them. The SymX show was fantastic. We were literally right at the front, against the stage -- my girlfriend got intimate and interactive with Russell a few times, she was in heaven :) In the middle of the concert, Russell was saying something like "We really appreciate everyone who drove a long distance to come see us tonight, I hear there's some people here from Pittsburgh..." at which point Mike L. whispers something to him and Russell goes "CANADA?! What kind of drugs are you guys on?!" :)

After the concert we got autographs and some pictures. Being a keyboard player, Mike P. is one of my idols and up to this point I had been to chicken to talk to him, but I worked up the nerve to chat with him after the show. I probably seemed like some sort of obsessed fan, but he didn't seem to mind :) I got to actually talk "shop" with him, find about the gear and sounds he uses, how freakin cool is that?!

Ok. Hereīs my story.

I was a boy scout at the age of 13 long time ago. We were hiking
to a remote lake in Finnish wilderness planning to spend a night or
two there. It was summer and me and my 4 friends had been in woods
also in winter it was definately easier in summer with lots of spare
time. In winter most of your time goes to make logs for fire to keep
yourself warm. I was the scout leader.

There was a group of guys there also but they were about 17 what means
in that time considerable difference in size and strength etc. These guys
that I knew very well, not so much a case with my friends, camped
their tent near to us. Only a few meters separated our tents.

These guys were real troopers as they had no food with them and anyway
they came there to enjoy nature and all. So in midday they went to
pick berries, named blueberries that were plentiful there on the other
side of the lake. These are quite nutritious as bears live off them.
So I had my master idea.

As there was no way they could get soon back I said we should wreck
their camp. They left a fire there, so we dumped water onto it.
We carried their tent with all their packbags and sleepingbags inside
and dumped them into the fireplace. And we peed on their stuff. Satiated
we waited for them to find out.

And the guys were furious, I mean furious. We had to run for our lives
literally. One guy threw my little axe to me and I still remember the
sight of it coming straight between my eyes ( luckily I ducked ).

As an aftermath brand new tent got burned as coal heated again.
So my dad had to pay that. But thatīs not all. I wrote at school all
this in an essay and teacher read it to everybody as she thought
it was so funny. So I got proper punishment from the guys by revealing
their names and breaking code of silence.

After all these years do I regret my idea ? NO WAY !!!

So Benzine, Jokke, Miksu, Cognac, Riikonen here I go again

As a former boy scout, I find nothing amusing about that story at all.

That isn't very funny.

Without shelter both groups could have gotten into some trouble if the weather got bad.
