This is not another PC vs Mac thread, keep that in mind...

I sold my laptop PC, and bought a MacBook Pro 13" with 2.26 Ghz intel duo core and 4 Gb DDR3 RAM. So far so good! It does feel very nice and robust, works as it should, and looks great - very compact and light, yet very powerful machine! The track pad is actually very useful, I don't feel like I need a mouse for regular browsing.

One thing does bother me - I heard so many rumors about new MacBook Pro line coming out any time now. Does anyone know when we could expect the release? Because I still have 10 day to send it back for a refund, and then I will probably buy the new one or the same one, but with a huge discount (I will probably go for 2.53 Ghz). Normally, I do a lot of research before buying something, but somehow not this time :frown:

Talking about this?

That will make everyone who complained "The iPad is just an iTouch and not a Mac!" happy.

Thanks!

Not sure what it means, though... it seems that the new MacbookPro is ready, yet they haven't released it for some reason, right?

Good reason would be the release of iPad - they don't want to release 2 things at the same time, for better marketing.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna call Appel store first thing Monday morning for a retour... any other news?

What do you mean about iPad?

The Apple product cycle is about a year for consumer products, check MacRumors buying guide, it provides pretty accurate information.

Better return it now...new Macbooks soon. I'm a bit leery of adopting thier first gen new stuff (like whats happening with the 27" imac) but I'm sure the new machines will be awesome. My new 2.53 15" MBP is amazing. All the new gestures have changed the way I browse the web.

Many people were expecting a tablet version of the Macbook (with Snow Leopard, huge memory, DAW compatiblity, etc) and instead got the iPad (with iphoneware and limited compatibility). Those people are not happy and have been complaining since. A new Macbook with Core i7 will probably make some of them happy.

Personally, I love the iPad idea, I never liked tablets before, but the "big iPhone" look makes sense to me as a new product [Damn you Apple! You keep making cool stuff we all end up buying!].

If Apple releases the new MBP, I think I'll know what to get for my birthday.

Yes, take it. You'll love it. I am using an iMac 24" 2.93 as my primary workstation, and a MacBook Pro 13.3" 2.26 I got for free as an Apple Campus Rep as my mobile studio/workstation. It's working just fine. Just be careful not to put too many complex effects on many tracks (i.e. Space Designer), or you will be experiencing problems with performance (Logic won't be able to play all of your tracks in real-time).

Yes, as an Apple Campus Rep you get a Macbook and an iPod Touch. You have to be selected, tho. A great deal  The only performance issue I am having is ocassionally with running Windows XP via Parallels on it. 2 gigs of RAM just don't seem to do for that. Other than that, it's a perfect machine. Put Logic and Mainstage on it, hook it up to your keyboard and go out and play.

Nice - and how do you get "selected"?

You could always install 2 Gb ram extra, if you need it.

Here you can apply. About RAM - both slots are filled when you buy it, so you COULD take out 1 1GB RAM, OR you can buy two 4 GB or two 2 GB RAMs, since they support up to 8 GB RAM all together.

Cheers.

Well, right now, the store is gone. I think, they will be online today or tomorrow with new MBPs.

So, did you sent the MB pro back?

Yep, just called them...

First the guy over the telephone was like "oh, sorry, we can't accept it back, because your MacBook Pro has custom specifications..."
Then I was like "so wHat - ur sait says that you can return both standard and custom products..."
Then he was like "where haz you red thiz"
I was like "on ur sait..."
He was like "w00t? o.O"

In the end he said that I can return it back for a full refund... hehe...

Hahaha

I love how it got progressively more... noobish.

:)

Thanks for the update, and glad your getting your stuffs refunded!

I hate when stuff doesn't work and you try and return it and they don't want to let you.

"Then he was like "where haz you red thiz"
I was like "on ur sait...""

Love it!

Well, it wasn't very funny at the time...

It bought it directly from Apple, so either way, I will have to buy from them in the end.
