Korg answered to my prayers : they did it : it so wanted a compromise between the Kaossilator and a KP3, with a MIDI connection to control more synths and they did it. So happy with this news and looking forward to having it. I saw it will cost 400$ which means 275euros. That's cheap for a sampler, controller, vocoder....Let's see what Roland will bring : new synth used by Jordan on GoW soundtrack :D

I guess the following link introduce the new products for the NAMM :
http://www.rolandconnect.com/
I'm not sure we can expect something else from Roland for 2010.

Yep, the Roland Combo VR 700 was presented : in fact it was the obscure synth introduced in the twitter picture in JR's studio. No real breakthrough by Roland : we already knew about the V piano and no particular synth. Yamaha too didn't present great things and Korg until now has the Kaossilator Pro.

Like how there's now a kaossilator with midi connections. But the original kaossilator is good for its portability and ability to kill time on journeys n stuff.
Hopefully within a week or so they'll be loads of videos of all the new synthy stuff from namm... can't wait

Anyone else notice the BATTERY operated keyboard amp!?!?!
3 channels
1 XLR/Line
2 Line
plus aux in for mp3 players?
all run on 8 AA batteries?
Wonder how long it lasts. Always hated how when I go camping EVERYONE else could easily play their acoustic instruments but I was stuck either downgrading to a really bad keyboard with crappy speakers or just not playing at all!
Maybe this isn't all that new, but I like the ability to play even without power...'
***You know what, major buzzkill. Just remembered that my amp isn't the only thing that requires power...stupid keyboards.

So far, only two products tickle my fancy, the Kaossilator Pro (http://korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=564) and the roland VP-7 (http://www.rolandconnect.com/product.php?p=vp-7).
Seems to me that the VP-7 is sort of a desktop module version of Rolandīs VP-770, which I always kind of craved (specially after seeing Rudessīs Demo). All other products were either expected (mopho keyboard), announced already (Nord Piano) or simply not amusing (Roland Combo keyboard). Letīs see if anything else of interest arises.

I agree completely. The very reason I bought mine. Helped me kill about 6 hours of road trips when I bought it and about 2 6-hour flights.

I guess you can still take the Kaossilator pro with you, as it is battery powered and has headphones...
One thing I thought was a weakness of the Kaossilator, is that once you make a really good idea, turn the unit off, and its lost. Whereas with the pro, you can now save it to an SD card, which seems like a great feature! So even if it is a bit clunky, that makes up for it in my opinion.
The Roland VP-7 looks really cool. Shame you can't put it in a half space rack and change the settings via midi... As I would rather have it tucked away rather than try and integrate it to clamp onto my stand or whatever...
Also, it really bugs me how Rolands vocoder technology sounds great without a mic input, but the vocal sounds on my Fantom X sound weak and crap!
Just want to clarify.... Difference between a KP-3 and Kaossilator pro? KP-3 is a sampler and FX unit. Kaossilator pro is like a kaossilator and KP-3 mixed together? The synth patches n loops built in, with the sampling and midi controling features?
Can someone please confirm or correct me on this?

I confirm, the Kaossilator is a mixture between a Kaossilator and a KP3 and it can send notes too to MIDI devices (which could not be done by the KP3 and by the Kaossilator too as it didn't have a MIDI port). In fact it's an expanded KP3 with a Kaossilator inside.

Cheers for the reply Keyboard wizard.
So just to be uber clear,
KP-3 is fx with sampling ability,
kaossilator is synth with loop ability,
kaossilator pro combines the two and also has midi control and ability to send note messages to other gear?
(anything I've missed?)
It's mighty tempting, but I can't justify spending that much cash on something that I'm only gna use for fun, and not likely to use for serious music making...
Thanks again

I think you missed anything. If you want to be really really really sure. Just read on Korg website.
You can use it for making real music. after all it's a sampler and a FX unit. So you can even load a mellotron sample or have a specific effect. And with the touch screen it's a new way to create music linked with another synth : imagine you can have a kind of pitch bend with changing effect at the same time. And kind of continuum but cheaper and with selected scales (great way to improvise).
For me it's a great instrument and what I needed.

Yeah, I do agree that its a versatile tool. Definitely more-so than the original Kaossilator. But I just don't know if it's good enough to justify spending that much cash due to curiosity
Cause I've got sampling on my Fantom... And a sequencer that I could put on a 4 bar loop...
If I have money spare and I'm really curious, maybe... As it does look very fun. And if I understand correctly, using the XY screen and midi out to play my other instruments would be pretty cool

Of course if you already have a sampler. As for me I don't have any sampler and looper so it could be a good compromise.
