In whatever genre you want to classify this in, I'm giving this new album by Devin Townsend my vote for Album of the Year. There is just so much going on, it's like an adventure with every listen. This man truely doesn't get nearly as much credit and recognition as he deserves. Of course this is just my opinion. It is rocking, uplifting, and puts a smile on my face. But mostly...this album is just fun, Fun, FUN!!!!

I was totally blown away when I heard this record for the first time. What an intense sound!!And Anneke is amazing. When Abba meets Metallica....wonderful.
In which category I would rank it....I don't know techno progressive metal:smile:. In fact this man is beyond category, Addicted is so different from Ki for example but as good as the latter. Definitively one of the album of the year.

MASSIVE is another good word to describe the overall sound of "Addicted."

Gotta say this one is growing on me. Slowly but surely I'm starting to really dig it. I liked Bend It Like Bender straight off the bat but some of the other tracks are taking a little while to gel.

But it is a good album.

I completely agree, the man is a genius, but definitely not enough recognition and i mean, listen to the variation in what he writes...from his Devin Townsend band stuff, to strapping, to Ki, and now Addicted... and all of it his own unique sound,

Addicted is amazing....not one for puns...but i am addicted to it

Eh, I don't know. I've gotta listen to more, but so far Steven Wilson's Insurgents tops the shi*t out of it.

I have the CD too (with autograph from Dev) and it's fantastic!

Definitely the album of the year for me

After knowing how the voice "Rage" on Ayreon's Human Equation was created, I was expecting well... a duet with oneself singing, screaming and grunting simultaneously and what did I encounter?
I think it's a combination(don't know which order:biggrin:) of these words:
Epic, Techno, Progressive and Metal... and it's AWESOME!
