Rudess

Hey everyone,
Tis the evening before the Berklee School of Music, Rudess/Morgenstein Project concert.
Here is the info for those who would like to join us there.
On August 5th, Rudess Morgenstein Project will be performing at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It will be held at the Berklee Performance Center and starts at 8:15PM. Tickets are only $5!
The address of the Berklee Performance Center is 136 Massachusetts Av, Boston.
We will be playing and previewing songs from my new album Rhythm Of Time as well as classic RPM material.
Rod and I are really excited to bring the "Power Duo" back into action. If you are anywhere near the Boston area, come on down! it would be great to share an evening of music with you!
When I return from Boston I plan to post a lot more pics from Keyfest that I have. I have been so busy with promotion for R/T and Evening with Petrucci/Rudess as well as preperations for this concert. Never a dull moment for sure.
Dani and I both got the new Treo 600 phone and it's been a blast.
I installed a new synthesizer on it, and that has been entertaining me as well. It's called Bhajis loops. Check it out on line. It's insane for a handheld device.
The infamous Bert arrived here tonight to get me all packed up for the show tomorrow. If you want his autograph, he will signing following the concert.
That's it for now my friends. It was SO GREAT seeing many of you at KeyFest. We have to do that again. I had an awesome time.
We have a great video of that nights concert as well in the works so stay tuned for that!
Finally- The DT keyboard anthology is NOW available on my online store AND- Total Keyboard Wizardry (the BOOK) written by yours truly and assisted by Chris Romero (Progressive Transcriptions) will be out ANY MOMENT!!
Stay tuned.
Musically,
Jordan

Hey Jordan. Looking forward to seeing RPM back in action tomorrow. It was great seeing you at Keyfest, and I made a bunch of new friends in the process. I'm sure the next Keyfest will be even better than the first.
I am in the process of creating a very special worship group, called The Church of Baldwin. It is dedicated to all of those people who want His children. :P
Keep it spooky.

I wish I could be there, unfortunately the dress rehearsal for the theater show I'm in is tomrorow night, which reminds me
If you all want to see a great production of Jekyll and Hyde done entirely by students, come see it on August 6, 7, 13, 14th at 8pm or August 8th at 2pm.
It's at Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield, CT, for all of those who'd love to come, I'm playing keyboards on the lovely K2600XS :)
I know some people *cough* live in Waterbury ;) and maybe JR and your wife would love tos ee this since I know she does theater stuff...but anyone else who lives in CT or wants to come down from NY...go ahead, it's gonna be great
hehe, good luck tomorrow night JR.

It was spectacular last year when you guys came to Berklee during the Drum Workshop week, and I wish I could come again (if only to help you guys out with another pre-show soundcheck  )
But, alas, I'm going to have to miss you guys. Have a great time! I'm sure it'll go off well.

I'm guessing just off of what he told me at KeyFest and what he did there...I can get anything he'll be using the Extreme just because he used it for some DT songs he performed at KeyFest and basically "confirmed" that he'd be using it from now on...

I'm sure he's gonna have the 2600XS all ready to go tonight!

I don't know...he's been using the Extreme and reprogramming it for almost everything, it'd make more sense for him to use that practice using it...but if he uses the 2600 lemme know...and in anycase, whoever is there...TAKE PICTURES!

The Extreme has that momentary pause or interruption
(although much faster than on previous Tritons) when
changing from Combi to Combi.
The Kurz, depending on FX selections, are capable of
making extremely smooth transitions where there is
no abrupt halt occuring during patch changes.
I mean...have you heard the tunes?
The RPM set is so demanding in this regard that I just
couldn't see JR leaving the Kurz at home.

Yea I know I've heard them and I know what you're talking about, but if he's using the Extreme for Dream Theater from now on (I say that hesitantly cause he could always switch back) he needs to practice switching the sounsd on the Extreme like that...we'll see, someone will let us know...are you going Frank ?

Yeah, which is why I asked my question:
The Triton is fast and good, and yes JR's going to need practice, but frankly he doesn't have enough hands to keep up with Rod, and when has he had the time to re-program all his sounds too?
I mean, I re-programmed JUST Over the Edge to work on a Kurzweil without the Roms and that took like, 1 week STRAIGHT. That was one song - Granted he's using a different synth and there would be MAJOR obsticles to overcome, I can't honestly see him using the Extreme for the RPM stuff, and if he did, I would be very suprised. *And interested to see HOW he did it too*
Who knows, we'll find out won't we? lol just wait and see folks.

Nah, I just asked him -
He's using the Extreme for the R/T stuff, and the Kurzweil for the RPM stuff :)

The concert was truly amazing, even with the backing track failures in Ra!
Setlist was as follows:
Don't Look Down
Drop the Puck (cool "drum duo" on the Kurz with Rod)
Time Crunch
Crossing Over
Screaming Head
Nightwind (drum solo, w00t!)
Ra (backing track failure with improv safety!)
Dead in the Water
Over the Edge
They were also very nice to stay after and sign some autographs. Rudess also signed his very first potato, which my friend had the honor of having. Here's a pic.
