Thought it'd be neat to revive this old thread idea. List your favorite albums (of all time - not current), and discuss. :) I'd like to see how the demographic here has changed over the past few years.
My favorites are below. I find that I keep going back to these trusted favorites time after time. In particular, I've been in a Spock's Beardian mood lately - Snow hasn't left my CD player in over a month.
1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon
2. The Police - Ghost In The Machine
3. Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2 - Scenes From a Memory
4. Peter Gabriel - So / Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (a tossup ;))
5. Spock's Beard - Snow
6. Sting - The Soul Cages
7. Bob Marley - Catch a Fire
8. Ben Folds Five - Whatever and Ever Amen
9. Roger Waters - Amused To Death
10. Andy Summers - The Golden Wire
Okay, so I listed more than 10. Oh well. :P

My list:
1.Dream Theater-Images And Words
2.Jens Johansson-Fission
3.Dream Theater-A Change Of Seasons
4.Trio Töykeät-Sisu
5.Jordan Rudess-Feeding The Wheel
6.Jamiroquai-Travelling Without Moving
7.Jamiroquai-Return Of The Space Cowboy
8.Explorers Club-Age Of Impact
9.Symphony X-V
10.Stratovarius-Visions
I could go on forever, but these are ten first that came to my mind.
I tried to arrange them in order but it's hard, believe me, these are
few of my all-time favorites.Of course it's hard to tell because you
find a good album, you listen it, listen it and listen it.... it lapses...
but these are the 10 witch are most "washable".

1) Dream Theater - Images and Words
3) Eagles - Hell Freezes Over
4) Fleetwood Mac - Rumors
5) Journey - Captured
Nice selections there. I enjoy the odd Journey song from time to time. Labrie always reminds me of Steve Perry, and Rumors is an essential album, IMO.

But, Bon Jovi... that's just inexcusable.
I never asked to be excused from anything, and I understand full well the misunderstanding of that band, when only based upon their output prior to 1988. But it's a shame how we build prejudices based upon only half the information. David Bryan has just as much chops as Jordan, which is saying alot, and it's just that different artists elect to manifest their talents in different fashions. I sense a smell of only half-assed familiarity. Are you judging from radio hits only? Because if not I will have to kill you - well come to think of it, either way I may have to kill you

I actually like their material prior to 1988. I still cover some of it from time to time, and I agree with you 110%. David Bryan is one fantastic keyboard player. Anyone who hasn't seen him live with Bon Jovi should really get out and see the show.

The Canadian has gone mad! Eminem, come on....
Dude, just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean that it's any less important - he brings up a lot of very political views IMO as well as very interesting (and intelligent) lyrical ideas as well.
Since it seems you don't listen to "that stuff" how would you possibly know?
How about you "come on" dude. Try being more open minded then a box, and don't bash things just because "you don't like it"
If I had that mentality, half these noobs wouldn't be here.

Listen to Eminem, it's very good, divers, daring etc.
I hate R&B and everything that comes close but eminem is original
Coen
PS. To the guy tha compared the skills of David Bryan and Jordan's, Don't.
I have Bryan's solo work, it' nice but on he is nowhere as good as Jordan when it comes to playing keys. Ke knows his shares of classical sonatas, but these are the favourites that 90% of this board plays.
He plays some nice piano and it sounds great in combination with the rest of the BonJovi gang, but he is no wizz

You bring up the obvious [and legitimate responses] about an attempted DB vs. JR comparison, and granted, of all we have to go on from their recorded works, JR has the more impressive offerings. And, as JR actually got to study with Adele Markus [sp?], DB had the band take off before he could make good on his acceptance to Julliard - however, I still think a "comparison" is not totally unwarranted, for one reason...
Somewhere else on here, somebody [my hero, whoever you are] posted the reminder for the proggers out there to remember about feel. And while I'd like to call the world of prog my home, there's something very unsettling to me about how guitarists like Petrucci/Yngwie and keyboardists like Rudess [though always the God of course] overflood the market with notes to the point of musical inflation [ the market itself is so small, this never impacts the general music industry of course]. Don't get me wrong, Bryan's music is as underplayed to me as Jordan's is overplayed - but that's why I need both. And according to all music I ever studied, emotion is a big component of musicality, just as technique is. So, is one more musical than the other? That I'm not trying to argue, it's almost impossible. It's apples to oranges, I admit. I'm just saying that both offer distinctly crucial elements of quality music to the rock world, and they are both important. You make very valid points but I won't be willing to go beyond agreeing to disagree.

I certainly don't want to bash David Bryan, excuse me if it sounded like that.
Personally I find "feel" also more important than having the ability to play super technical.
I found Jordan to be the most complete of all: feel, skill etc.
Talking about DB, I find his version of In these Arms better than the Bonjovi version (because of the feel)
