HI folks,

without wanting to turn this into a softwareforum i got a problem.
not long ago i deleted some codecs to get some free space, but now everything is ruined when it comes to playing movie-files.

they either have messed up sound, messed up screening or both, or not play at all.

Is there perhaps a player that will play ANY file without having to download 20 of those dumb codec packs all the time?

Id like to install it simple and be able to play at least MOST filetypes without problems.

Hope someone can help me :)

thanks

Try out Media Player Classic!
It's a good media player. It plays Divx, unfinished .avis and other stuff.
It's a simple program, but works very well!

Hope it helps!

Hi!
You can try VLC : plays all the formats you could imagine.
Download it here free for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, etc... :

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your replies folks.

The first one didnt work though, meaning it didnt fix the problem, ill check out the next one shortly.

I often get this green-shit, like, green blocks and stuff when i watch movie-files often. Or the colors get buggered. I hope its gonna fix it! worth the try!

Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do except load in the Codec's again. They add support for different media compressors at the OS level. Technically you should only have to download AVI codec's. Windows Media Player (WiMP) should support MPG fine. For AVI files there was a utility that allowed you to right click on an AVI file and it would give you the full information on the file, including which Codec's are used. Check out this site it has some good AVI utils.
