Really gutted. Most of my mates are at uni in other cites, my drummer mate has gone off DT and my girlfriend (also a fan) has work early the next morning so had to say no.

Just think, JR will be there on stage now with some snazzy new gadgetry that I'm missing :frown:

Actually, the unexpect/bigelf/opeth-crap sucked so bigtime I'll have to think really hard about going the next time if they're coming with an equally fucked up bunch of bands. Gief the 2,5 hour DT-shows again:frown:

I don't know about your show, but I really liked Bigelf. They rocked the house.

P.S. Then again, I also had Zappa, so my show kicked ass. :-p

I was gonna go to it. Had a ticket and everything. But I got a really bad ear infection yesterday morning, lost all hearing in my left ear because of it. So I thought, maybe I shouldn't spend a few hours at a really loud gig. So I missed out.
:frown:
I feel your pain.

I'm sorry and with all due respect, but why do you think those bands are crap?
Maybe to you it is crap, but there are people who like that music.
Okay, Unexpect isn't my cup of tea also, their sound was very bad at Ahoy, Rotterdam, but they had a lot of energy on stage....

I had never heard anything of Bigelf before, but I must say that I liked them.
A lot of "old stuff" on stage, but it sounded great.

Opeth is really NOT my kind of music, but their singer has a great voice.

Just 3 bands that did try to impress on stage and hopefully for them, there will be people that follow their musical path.

If it was for me, Dream Theater would have played longer than the one and a half hour, but unfortunately, they didn't.
The entire stage production with the lights and screens was amazing and I surely wouldn't have missed them.

@gylfith, a pity you did not see them....
But why didn't you get earplugs? Or is it that bad?
Well, get better soon.................

Opeth and Bigelf are great, unfortunately Unexect really sucks. The good thing is they played for half an hour only.
I've heard Dance of Eternity live, now I'm ready to die :]

Of course, isn't which bands are crap and not determined by each individual for itself? I really tried to like Opeth once, but I find the music so utterly dull. And at "my" show they went slopeth through the whole set, and that is even worse.
Bigelf is just like a standard 70s band which never made it to the wall of eternal fame.
It's called progressive nation, I thought they were going to bring progressive rock/metal bands. Not a ballad rock band with growling (at least Åkerfeldt growls great, but that is just not enough) and a cheesy 70s punkprog band with a bassist who's using a capo. Sorry for the aggressive post, just had to let some steam out:tongue:
ZPZ was here earlier this year, but for some reason I didn't go to see them. I've regretted it ever since.

Haha unfortunately it was that bad:frown: It's got better now though. I'm really pissed off that it was only really bad for the day and night of the gig. It was like if anything touched it it just exploded in pain. Obviously the gods were trying to stop me seeing DT.
I think that next tour I'm gonna get a meet and greet to make up for the loss of this tour:tongue:

Bigelf = one of the best bands I have ever seen when I was not a fan of theirs before the show

Definitely a convert

I really liked Bigelf. Awesome to see all the ancient gear on stage. (Though I've yet to figure out why Fox used both a Memotron and a Mellotron?) Unexpect is also not my cup of tea and Opeth was decent. It's just so hard to compare to Dream Theater ;)

Too bad for you guys who have to miss the fun.

My guess is that the Memotron was more of a backup when the original would fail (and there were concerts where that already happened)
