Hi everybody!
I have a little question and may be you can answer me....
Does DT have already play Space dye vest in a show?
If yes, where? when?
If no, why? why JR don't play this song?
Thank you to answer me!

They think of it as Kevin's song, and as a sort of respect to him they don't play it live.
They asked him to play it with them at the LSFNY show, but he declined because he wants to shed the whole "DT's ex-keyboardist" title, so he tries to shy away from anything related to them as much as possible so he can be thought of as what he is now instead of what he was, or something to that effect.
Though I'm kinda disappointed that he wouldn't do that for a one-time special moment (I think his reasoning is a load of crap), I can't really do anything about it so I won't complain. He can do whatever he wants...

Ok....
That would have been very appreciated to hear it at least once in LSFNY.... A beautiful moment in the DT history....

I think, for the same reason, they haven't played Wait for Sleep for a long time - I don't think ever with JR, and only infrequently with Derek.

Yeah I think that DT played Wait for sleep few times, only with Kevin Moore. I have this file, its a beautiful live song!
I have 2-3 differents versions of WFS (instrumental, acoustic only with guitar, live, ect...) and I have the rare demo version of space dye vest.
So, if you want to have one of these files, tell me!

Anyways space dye vest has never been played alive ever, not even with kevin moore...
Space dye vest is one of the 3 songs that dt has never played alive. Raise the knife and dont look past me have not been played alive either.
Why haven't they played the other two live?
*Side Note: I wish they played Wait For Sleep live...like as the opener for Learning To Live, it would be so great, especially now, to hear an Images and Words set of songs asides from Another Day, Pull Me Under, and Under a Glass Moon...

Space Dye Vest is one of the only songs (if not THE only song) where Kevin Moore gets sole credit for both music and lyrics. Maybe it was never meant to be a DT song but rather a good-bye song by Kevin Moore who left the band during the Awake recordings ...

Space dye vest is one of the 3 songs that dt has never played alive. Raise the knife and dont look past me have not been played alive either.Raise the Knife was played live by Petrucci and Portnoy during their joint clinic tour, and there's a bootleg of it available.
Come to think of it, I'm sure You...Or Me hasn't been played live either, and I can't recall a time they played You Not Me either.
Space Dye Vest is one of the only songs (if not THE only song) where Kevin Moore gets sole credit for both music and lyrics. Maybe it was never meant to be a DT song but rather a good-bye song by Kevin Moore who left the band during the Awake recordings ...Portnoy has stated in his FAQ that if DT had known Kevin was leaving, the song wouldn't have gone on the album. However, the DVD commentary contradicts this, indicating that KevMo walked before James started recording vocals, so they would have had plenty of opportunity to pull the song if they weren't happy with it. Personally, I think they recognized the strength of the song, recognized that it's the perfect postscript to Awake*, closing the song cyle with beauty, pain and passion, and thus decided to retain it as an album closer and possibly as a farewell to Kevin. Although SDV has elements that would appear in ChromaKey, I think it's still very definitely a Dream Theater song, both in the demo and the album version.
