Hey guys, any Fates Warning fans?

Below is the new cover. The album is going to be released on Oct. 5th by Metal Blade. This is Mark Zonder's last album with Fates Warning, as he initially said when they started recording.

I got A Pleasant Shade Of Gray... I think at the time cos KevMo was playing on it, and the people on the newsgroups I used to read were raving about it. It's OK, nothing remarkable IMO. Haven't heard any of the other stuff except one track (Valley Of The Dolls?) that was on some dodgy metal compilation CD I found in a bargain bin...

I go with Spacehog, I only have APSOG, too, but I have also heard some other stuff of them. I also think they're pretty good, but I'm not too impressed by them.

I have all their stuff, I prefer the John Arch era vs Ray Alder. Dont get me wrong I like Ray's vocals I just think the band got wimpy as of late. I think I've listened to Disconnected about 3 times. No Exit on the other hand is constantly being played thats a must have for Fates Warning fans.

Dont pay much attention to KevMo on the discs, he's only playing what they tell him to play and its quite borring. Its so lame when people rave about his playing on the FW discs like its the best thing, its not, he's not end of story.

On a related note I dont know how many of you got the John Arch disc last year it was pretty great for a 2 song release. The running time is something like 20+ minutes great to hear him sing again after all these years, Portnoy is on it too.

Twist of Fate is great. I love Relentless, the first track.

Anyways, Disconnected I consider it a masterpiece. Specially Still Remains, I think that's their best track.

Yeah I wish Arch would make a full comeback into music. He doesnt have to tour, I guess that was some of his issues was touring.

One of the bands in Chicago asked me to lay down some solos for their music. I was shocked when I heard it, the singer sounds like John Arch, and the music is proggy.

I have all the FW cds and will definately be picking up their latest when it comes out.

Really sad that it'll be MZ last cd with them.

I also have both their dvds - The View From Here & Live At the Dynamo

They rocked when I saw them open for QR & DT in Barrie Ontario last summer!

Add me to the list that enjoys Ray Alder more than John Arch.
I have Twist of Fate and John is a great singer but listening to all the FW catalogue "No Exit" kills!! 8)

Unfortuantely I dont think they've topped No Exit with Alder, dont get me wrong I like APSOG, PM, and a the rest but they're no No Exit, that disc kills.

Did anyone get their first DVD? I have it and I'm not pleased with it. The show starts off on the second song of the set and the whole crowd looks like they'd rather take a nap than watch the show. The set list could of been better to. I know there is a second DVD I might have to get that one.

Sadly for all the years that I've been into them they've only hit town 4 or 5 times and I've seen all their shows. The worst was when the opened for Pantera, they got booed off the stage, that sucked I was there just to see them.

Hey didnt Frank play with them for a tour?

I think APSOG is great!, Specially if you put attention to the lirics and they relationship with the mood and feeling of the album. Simply great!
I also love disconected and paralells (the eleventh hour kicks ass!!)

Can`t wait for this CD!

Yeah Frank Aresti was on that tour, I hope he's back in FW permanent.
He pulled off his solo's with excellent precision. Jim Matheos was more of a rhythm guitarist compared to Aresti from what I noticed.
It was the first time I ever seen FW and I wished they played longer than ~40mins.
