so I saw that, and I was wondering if anyone here has tried this. Does it work well? And where would you plug the guitar pedals into? The same spot as regular keyboard pedals?

You have an analog synth, it's sometimes nice to add some analog distortion.
It works just like with guitar - you just plug it in.

note you dont put em in the keyboard pedal inputs, its like a guitar you know, you chain it to the amp the keyboard pedal input really can only send midi signals, nothing about sounds, otherwise have fun experimenting

For most purposes, these really arent what you are looking for typically for keys.
There are a few settings in which they can work well though.
These would be:
With analog synths or early digital synths that dont have internal effects or dont have good internal effects.
For distortion, it mostly works sometimes with electromechanical instrument emulations (and you have to bypass whatever internal effects might be present), and some leads and basses. Distortion and keys just dont go together all that well most of the time. And you're fairly limited to single notes and fifths, unless you want/dont mind the weird overtones you get from other intervals.
You have to remember, modern keyboards are mostly designed to be in stereo, so sometimes if you only have a mono ouput coming out, it wont sound ideal. A better option than pedals (besides for distortion) might be a rack processor with a stereo input and output. For instance the Ensoniq DP4, which actually has 4 individual inputs and outputs, because it has 4 separate effects units that can either be used separately, or in various cominations.
It really depends on what you you want to do with the effects, and also what your current gear is if it will make sense for you to use "guitar" pedals.

I agree with Omega Monkey.

You need to have seperate outs on your synths or use a seperate mixers FX chain to put the pedals into. On lead sounds you can still even archive the stereo FX with help of a mixer.
Many top keyboardists use at least distortion boxes, most famous being the morley JD-10, Big muff, and Boss S-overdrive (blues driver being ok too). Synths distortion is still complete crap.
