There's no mystery about *why* it's dead--the ribbon that runs beneath the keys is shot. Why the ribbon's bad is the mystery--with no identifiable breaks in the part of the cable that connects from the left side of the keyboard to the pitch wheel assembly, there's just no conductivity to the connecting pins. I had to peel the plastic away from a portion of it to test the conductors, and even though they *look* a little grotty, they still conduct...just not for the last few inches between the peel and the pins. And then, in the course of testing, working with a silver-ink pen, and so on, one of the pins eventually just snapped off. That's that.
My options, it seems are a) new ribbon or b) new keyboard assembly. Replacing the ribbon looks like a real pain. So I suppose I'm seeking a replacement 76-key keyboard assembly for a 1997 rev. B K2500.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
many thanks
