Well, here it is my day at Gelsenkirchen/Germany.
What can I say... A Day to remember.
This was my 16th DT concert... but this one has to be one of the best.
What a great location, everything was just perfect, the weather, the crowd, the sound... everything.
Neal Morse had a great set and he and his bandmates had a great time.
Highlights for me where ''Author of Confusion'' and ofcourse ''We All Need Some Light'' when Mike
sat behind the drumkit the crowd went crazy.
In my early days I was always upfront during live concerts but now I don't do that anymore because
of the sound. We had a great spot where we could sit (although we where standing all time)
and the sound was really good.
I got to meet Daycrush (Dennis, a fellow forum member) and we had a great time that day.
The guys of DT where on fire that evening... my god, they had so much fun.
I loved James little intro speach before A Rite Of Passage, the crowd just burst into laughter.
Highlights for me where ''Erotomania/Voices'' and ofcourse ''Hollow Years''.
Mike's stick throwing went very smoothly, I think he didn't dropped/missed one.
After the concert it wasn't over for us because we had backstage passes.
I'm sad to say that I didn't got to meet MP... damn!
Also JM and JP, I guess they where tired or had other things to do.
But hey, I got those tickets/backstage passes for free so I should not complain.
Jordan and James showed up and they where very friendly, they took the time to talk to everyone,
sign autographs and taking pictures.
Some months ago I made an Illustration/cartoon ( http://www.mikeportnoy.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=2305203)
and a friend of mine printed them out had I took some copies with me.
I have a copy where JR and James signed it.
James said at one point... ''Man, I would really love to have a poster of this...''
(Me) ''Well, I have one for you, signed by me!!!... and the whole room burst into laughter...
They loved it, the other 3 signed copies I gave to Jordan for MP, JM and JP.
We took some pics ofcourse and then we went back home with a big smile on our faces.
A day to remember...
Thanks DT, Jeroen, Dennis, Arie and all the other cool guys and girls we met that day.
Steve

Hey,
It was nice to meet you too.
Just heard from Jordan that MP was bummed out too that he didn't meet you.
If he had known he would have been there.
Jordan didn't realise what you did for MP............
they're coming again :)

Oh, you were there too!
What a nice Review, sounds like you must have had a great time (me too).
I don't know if this is ok, but i would like to post 2 pictures here. I had a Meet & Greet ticket and wow, i was so nervous. Since i am a Keyboader i brought the side plates from my Keyboard to sign there. That was funny, i entered the venue and usually if you have a backpack or something the security people want to have a look. So they asked: "What do you have in there" and i answered: "Two Metal Plates". That was kind of a shock, he didn't let loose the Package until the Situation was cleared, that i was there for the Meet and Greet and so on. I could have brought my whole Keyboard instead!
We had a nice time, the weather showed as Stevetheater wrote, it's best side and the Meet and Greet was Open Air! So i got a nice Picture from myself with Dream Theater and the little River in the Background.
Later the Band played a nice Performance, i had a really great Time!
Here are the side plates i brought to the concert:

Back home i attached them to the Keyboard:

What an evening!

congrats to all of you.. and this signed M3 is beautiful!! wish I could do that with my keyboard without removing the hole board lol
It was truly a legendary show. It was my third DT show, but absolutely the best (although the last Evening with in the HMH was also really really cool). The location was just awesome, the weather was beautiful, the whole band was at the top of their game and the setlist was just awesome
I had a great time.. can't wait for the 'big' european leg of this tour
Also, cool pictures at the MP forum, Stevetheater!

there is so much videos available for this show I wanted to keep a memory of it... so yesterday I've been video editing the show with all the video audio and photos available (including my own videos and photos)... In the end I have almost every song of the show, totalling 1h47 of video... I just hope no one mind the fact I added their video or photos.... anyway everyone's contribution is greeted at the end of the video
I actually made this for myself, but I figured some people would really be interested in keeping a memory of this absolutely awesome show

Wow.. what an awesome effort! Have you thought about combining this with the bootleg? (I haven't heard it yet, so I don't know the quality)

I did :)
that way the sound is always the same (especially because in a lot of videos the sound is crappy because of the bass saturation... especially in my own videos :p ) ... actually I don't think I would have done that without the audio bootleg !
and thanks to the multiple people recording the same songs, I was able to do quite a bunch of camera changes :)
