This CD at first will be available on Itunes and CD Baby as well as Music Today (which is my store)...
At this moment it is only exclusively available on Music Today.
We will work on some other channels of distribution as we go- but this is the approach for now.

I just proceeded to pre-order the album on JR store and it wants my credit card number in a plain http frame, which looks pretty insecure. Is there any way to pre-order the CD that would let me enter my sensitive data in a more secure way? (like HTTPS with a trusted certificate or over PayPal)

this is great. This contains my favorite DT song (Speak To Me).

I just tried to order... it looks like the first 50 are gone already.

as far as the https thing goes - the frame where the store is DOES use SSL (right click and view properties). It is a bit of a poor choice to embed it in an http frame though. Can cause confusion (as it already has).

In the interview JR posted he mentions how it could be a great vehicle for more chicks to get into DT...and I think he's NAILED it.

I read someone on MP.com say that their girlfriend was getting right into it, and I was playing it at work and some of the girls in the office made mention of the "really nice" music I was playing haha...I guess instead of the usual metal I'm blasting in my part of the office haha.

Such an awesome album to chill to.

I've always enjoyed JR's piano stuff, but I have to say this is my favourite.
I heard many of these tunes as they were being recorded over many months of work by Jordan, and he has put a lot of time and effort into recording these tracks and making them the best they can be.
In many cases many versions of each song were recorded, and the best ones chosen for the album, so even though they're very beautiful free-flowing improvised renditions of the songs, a lot of effort was put into each one to make sure they best captured the essence of the melody and the right feel. And I think the balance between all of these elements is perfect on this album more than ever.
I think this is a must have for all DT fans, who want to hear some favourites with a fresh new sound.
Currently listening to The Silent Man, and loving every single second of it. :)

Im very interested in that software, since the piano sounds on the Triton Extreme 88 arent exactly my favorite..I can use it with my keyboard right? I dont really know how to utilize my keyboard to its full potential sadly..

I really can't recommend this album enough. I hope the review doesn't read like a press release, as that wasn't the intention, but this album is simply stunning.

JORDAN RUDESS

"Notes From A Dream"

Jordan Rudess has released an album of his own piano interpretations of Dream Theater songs, and it's mightily impressive stuff. Sifting through the DT back-catalogue and selecting the more mellow tracks, he has re-arranged them and added his own startling flourishes to them. Probably the most notable feature of the album is that he has retained those instantly recognisable melodies from such tracks as 'Hollow Years', 'The Silent Man' and 'The Answer Lies Within' yet arranged them in such a way that they have almost taken on a new and mesmerising identity.

When Jordan is writing and perfoming with Dream Theater, his work is mind-blowing enough. But you have to remember that he is a classically trained performer. And although he unquetionably adores his DT "day job", he also clearly has a insatiable desire to continue to write and perform on the piano. Album's such as 'Notes From A Dream' are merely a reminder of that other half of his musical identity. The melding of the two facets of his work is simply stunning and one that deserves to be heard by a larger audience than just DT fans. Any lover of classical music, would, if they rise above any snobbery against a musician who has made his name in the prog rock field, see the virtues of his work. And there are plenty of comparisons that can be made in the classical world, with tracks like 'Through Her Eyes' having a style that can accurately be described as Dream Theater meets Rachmaninov. It really is that alluring. It would also be intriguing to see how the classical world would view his technique and creations, and I can only hope that a copy of his album has been sent to the likes of Gramophone or International Piano magazine for their appraisal. Such reviews could only be positive and would rightly allow a wider audience access to an album that is elegant, adventurous and the work of a modern day genius.

Here is another review -

Jordan Rudess
Notes On A Dream
As on other releases ('Secrets Of The Muse') Jordan Rudess likes to experiment with pure arrangements. That his favorite instrument of choice mostly comes down to the piano will be a surprise to no one. Also on this 'Notes On A Dream' he concentrates on his piano and does that on a rather special way. Next to a couple of new compositions like 'Perpetuum Mobile' and 'Collision Point' he also takes a number of Dream Theater songs and strips them to the bone. What remains are breathtaking, pure but above all beautiful piano versions of e.g. 'Through Her Eyes', 'Lifting Shadows Of A Dream', 'The Silent Man', 'Hollow Years', 'The Spirit Carries On' and 'The Answer Lies Within'. This is the ideal album as a background when friends are visiting for dinner, a romantic tête-a-tête or as a relaxation therapy while taking a hot bath or while reading a book. Even when you feel the need to develop deep philosophical thoughts this album might help to get into the right atmosphere. Although it might prove to be very hard to not be distracted by the recognizable melodies and you might find yourself humming rather than thinking. You can buy this album on Jordan's website (jordanrudess.shop.musictoday.com).

Will there be an edition of the CD also containing notations for the songs? I would greatly appreciate such a thing or "just" a songbook for the album.

Really wonderful would be a kind of collectors' ed, but not for collectors only, but for keyboardists with Wither Keys&Vocals(the youtube vid really amazed me) and with notations.

Edit: As for payment, us Europeans without credit cards would greatly appreciate the possibility of PayPalPayment, even if it would be more expensive
