Basically, I want to buy one of these synths...
Korg M50 or Roland Fantom S8 or even the Fantom X7;
What's the Better ?
The Sampler Function in the Fantom really matters a lot ?
What's the best, for make sounds like Jordan Rudess leads and this kind of stuff...?
Which have the best electric guitar sounds ?
And the most important question, coz i use a lot the liquid T from Jordan, which of these synths could make the same Liquid T, coz I never have heard the liquid T on a Fantom, or it's possible to make this sound for it ?
Thanks Very Much!
Best Regards.

Well the m50 is a lot newer so it's gonna have a lot of new features compared to the s88. It's probably going to cost more though.
I'm saving up for the m50 myself.

No more answers... ?¿?¿?
Because really, I want to know what's the better...
Thx a Lot!
I'd go for the M50. It has the sound engine of the M3, which is a lot better than that of the Fantom S. The only basic workstation feature the M50 lacks is a sampler, but other than that it's an awesome synthesizer at an unbeatable price.

This is a pretty good answer for a "what is better" question. I also feel (see, again just opinion) that Korg is making the best attempt to design equipment that will be either upgradable or compatible with new products and software.
"What is better" is such a subjective question. You can't expect any answers that are much more than an opinion. It might serve for comparing the plastics used in the body. Which have better pots, caps, circuit boards, and other internal components. How do the keys, sliders, buttons and switches hold up?
I would personally prefer the M50 (I would find the $$$ for a T3!). But I'm just guessing at how that would serve your needs. Are you going to set this up in your living room to practice on? Is it for studio use? For road gear?

Welll...
Thanks for your answer...
You're Right...
I need this synth for make live performance tours in my country.
I'm just want to know if the Korg or the Fantom is better for prog music and rock, coz basically that's the kind of music that I produce, and normally i make my production in my studio with vst's and not synth.
So basically I can say, this will be my first synth and that's the reason for why i'm asking you what's better for prog music.
P.S.: Please Move this Thread into the Gear talk Section.
Thx!

I think Fantom x would be a better choice - why?
You said it yourself, you make your sounds with VSTis in the studio, so when you want to perform, what you really want is the sampling option.
I know Frost uses a lot of custom made samples, and sometimes it is just so much easier to sample a sound, instead of spending hours, trying to recreate it, without any success. Go for x7...

But In the Fantom, I cannot create a sound like Liquid T, or not ?¿?

What makes you think that?

What makes you think that?
lol...
I don't know...
Basically, coz I haven't heard anywhere, that it's possible recreate the Liquid T sound in the Fantom...
Even, coz there's no tutorials or demos of this sound with the Fantom...
Maybe it's ignorance, as i told above, this will be my first hardware synth and my first synth experience...

Agreed, the sampling function is a must have (IMHO) for prog music. You can also look for the Roland Fantom G6 or G7 which has patch remain feature on live sets.
When I'll get my Roland Fantom G one day, I'll sample my Karma a lot :)

I don't think so...
I know that the Fantom G is AWESOME!!!!
But the Fantom G is so expensive in my country, so I better go for the Fantom S or X in case that I buy the Roland...

Not a must, but it will make everything much easier, especially if you perform live with only 1 keyboard, and especially if you use VSTis for producing.

Well...
It could be...
But, for now, the Fantom is winning the battle against the Korg M50...

Well, I do have to warn you, that you could not call Fantom a good preset out of the box synth... presets are just awful.

So...
That it means that the Fantom Presets are awful...
Or I understood bad...

From those two, I'd take the M50, but my main qualm with that board as well as the M3 - the keybed is a piece of crap, not even close to the quality of the Trinity/Triton and their predecessors.
Have you considered a used keyboard from the previous generation like a Triton Extreme or a K2600? Yeah, the synth engines are a bit old, but you can still do tons with them and there's a wealth of knowledge and patches out there already to play with.

Yep!
I have considered the K2600 or the Triton Extreme 88, but it's a little bit difficult to find them... Specially here in Costa Rica...
By the moment, I have found a K2600 rack, but not an Extreme 88. (Obviously, no many people want to sell their TR Extreme)
The last week, I called a guy that assure, could find me a Extreme or a K2600 in Miami, but I have to wait until the next week... and let's see what happens...
