Well its been a crazy couple of weeks going from plans to doing a large industry showcase and working with a financial backer but I and the rest of the band has decided to quit the David Shankle Group. This all came up last week, there was a lot of wind in our sails but we came to a complete stop when the new singer decided to part ways with the band. After 5+ years I didn't want to start from square one and spend another singer and spend a couple more years working on another disc. The rest of the band pretty much also left for the same if not other reasons.
Amazingly I'm not depressed about this whole situation, I'm actually quite excited for all the musical opportunities this opens up for me. After all these years I get to write the style of music that I enjoy, and it allows me to play with any musicians that I want. My goal is to not join a band right away but to get myself on a number of recordings with various bands and musicians.
Just Sunday I got a demo from one band and started to record some scratch solos last night. This Sunday I will be working with my old guitarist from Imperial Rage and DSG drummer Ed on new proggy material and possibly some power metal stuff. There is a recording project which has members of 12th Gate and other Chicago musicians that’s been in the works for some time now which I can now put my full attention to. Another old guitarist is moving back to town in December and we will reform an old band of mine from 95. There are a number of guys from a very old band of mine that want to re-record our music (prog funk metal) from 1992.
I'm going to be the keyboard whore
