Hey...

I want to buy a new 88 keys keyboard and I had always been interested in the Kurzweil K2600 X Workstation.

As you know it offers great sounds and various possibilites to develop a unique professional style – and that’s what I’m looking for: Not just an expensive toy but a musical instrument in order to compose "serious" music.

However, I wondered if this synthesizer isn’t “out-dated” by now (especially concerning the price-performance ratio – it’s still about 3000€) and searched for an acceptable alternative. I came across the Korg M3-88 X-panded Workstation which features certain innovations distilled from the OASYS like KARMA as well as some other cool technologies such as the X-Y touch display control (but on the other hand the ribbon is quite small :P).

The problem is, from what I read and saw on Youtube, I believe that they put too many efforts in the development of generated backing sequences (which I don’t need for I am playing in a band) at the expense of those particular sounds that are important to me (natural piano or strings).

I am an advanced classical piano player but I actually don’t know much about keyboards so I need some help here ;)

Now that’s my question: Korg or Kurzweil… hope you can help me out :)

I would say take a motif Xs or a PC3...

The Xs sounds are really good, and the PC3 to.

Both machines have their pros and cons, Xs has little gap between patch and don't have an analog synth engine like you can find in the PC3.

But PC3 can't sample...

IMO a big feature of the M3 is the Karma, but if you don't need it...

And the K2600 is surely a good board, but pretty old and overpriced ... !

Welll. That's my 2 cents... :P

I pretty much agree with him more to that I got a PC3 and am really satisfied... i also have a motif rack and rarelly use it. The sounds that are better are horns, sax, and guitars.

The k2600 is too overpriced and that's why i didnt buy it.

the M3 sound sample quality is the bad argument to it. You would have to make all your sound from the samples in there or take your own and not use the preset (unless you do trance and electro stuff )

you should be able to negociate if it is to much with a local dealer
3600$ list and 2900$ (us) on some site ... and still they make lots of profit over ... I can't tell you the cost price but at 2900$ they still make lots of profit

Yeah definitely the PC3X, there's nothing in that price range to compete with those sounds...
