New to software synths and midi controllers

So, today I took a ride to the nearest Guitar Center and was talking with one of my friends who works there. He got me to buy the Korg Legacy collection (without the MS-20 controller) and the M-Audio Radium 49. I already have a copy of Fruity Loops version 4, so I'm going to be using that as a host for the legacy VST's. Now my question, how do I program the assignable knobs on the radium midi keyboard to correspond with cutoff, resonance, attack, delay, etc. In the manual that came with the radium, it said to activate the set control function, then chose a knob, then to select a parameter number (1-127). This is where I get lost. How do I go on from there and have say knob number 9 control the cutoff and knob number 10 control resonance?

Also, I have a copy of NI B4, how do I program the 8 sliders to control the drawbars?
