I am just asking this questing : has anyone studied the Big Jordan Rudess's Piano Solo (the one at the Live Scenes From New York) ??? I am making this questing because I studied that in the past and it took me 1 month to be able to play the first 30 seconds. Has anyone played it all, or just JR is able to do that ????

nope, I've played it live a couple of times - The only thing I did was the piano part however - I didn't have the sounds for the vocal part so I pretty much just changed it a little to go into Over the Edge instead ;)
i have some problems with the unison-descending octaves...
for the rest is not easy but not impossible

I haven't started studying yet, but it is on my "Cool piano pieces that I will study and learn in the future" list.

That octave part was surprisingly easy for me. THe way jordan plays it feels really nice for the hands, unlike other riffs that other pianists play like this (the octave-way thing).
I however, I have more problems with the trills that jordan does use 4+5 finger ;)

Did you learn it from the midi from JR's midipage or do you have another transcription? Because when I open the midi in my midi program (I use cakewalk) it is very hard to read...
But if you all studied it with the midi, I guess it's time for me to read harder

yes i get it from JR midi page (just the piano part) for the learning i use some programs like band in a box or guitar pro , it has a piano window
i slow down the tempo and loock at the notes played (in the piano window) and i learn from
but anyone have the vocal part guys? it's the fun part and there are some hard part to transcribe :?

I don't have the non-piano part and it would be too difficult to find it anywhere else except JR's web site. It is really fast.
Another question : How long have you been practising JR solo ???

Why don't you create your own Big Solo? 8)
