So I keep seeing all these youtube videos of Rudess playing all this crazy original stuff. (and one really blew me away)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiBguqI350o < level headed man

I dont know why but this song really makes you step back and think about the meaning of life

so my question is who gets to play in the keyfest besides Rudess?

Is there like an audition or something? and will there be another keyfest in 09'?

I don't have that DVD. We can see only JR's concert in it, right?
But there were a master class and jam as well that same day.(I read JR's post) Are there any forumers who auditioned for a master class?
Anyway some videos from the keyfest are so awesome!! I want another keyfest too.

I remember that day - definitely one of the best day(s) of my life haha. The night before the keyfest there was a meet and greet at a restaurant nearby in White Plains where a bunch of us met up with each other and JR and his wife for dinner.

The keyfest had a masterclass component that centered itself around improvisation, compositions, and soloing. I didn't play but I know a number of people did play. It was pretty amazing to see how much of a musical recall he really has. He would transcribe the songs in real time and then go up to the piano and play bits back to the performers and show them different ways to change things to make them more interesting musically.

The concert was great and is on that dvd that someone posted up there. Definitely a worthy purchase and I hope keyfest happens again. Although, with all the DT stuff going on I doubt it would happen in the near future. Maybe at some point when they take a break after the next tour and he gives himself a break to do some things.
