hello every1 there. i have an exam in the concervatory. the exam is in 2 weeks, and i was told to chose a prelude and fugue from the well tempered klavier today :S since i don't have time to practice all day, i'm tryin to look for smth euh that can be done in a fast way. can any1 help me out there plz ? til now, i'll play the second from book 1, unless som1 convinces me not to. thx in advance
I think the prelude and fugue in d major from book 1 (number 5 i think), is realtively easy to learn in a week, also the b flat major prelude...the c major prelude is easy, just listen to some recordings and you can hear, it depends on how good you are technically...but the d major prelude/fugue is good.

From Book 1, the C minor Prelude and Fugue are excellent. A little challenging but definitely worth the effort.
I actually started that...listen to the Glenn Gould recordings to get a good idea of how they all sound and that should help you choose.

The Cm Prelude was "covered" by Derek Sherinian in his tour with Yngwie Malmstein. Yngwie was looking for smething "Baroque" so Derek asked Tony Macalpine for suggestions and he recommended the Cm Prelude.
An excellent version to listen to is Wanda Landowski. She was an absolute master of the Back keyboard works and she recorded them on harpsicord.
Bach's keyboard works are the foundation from which we all flow. Study his work and every aspect of your playing and writing will improve! I guarantee it!
I think that Glenn Gould has better recordings of the works...he was an amazing player and his recordings have been set a "precedent" on how to play the WTC pieces.

I suggest you play prelude and fugue 21 from book I.
Love that one! :D
Which key is that in again?

Don't do the Cm...that is the most commonly played, and thus most cliche one out there. I'd go for Dm, that one is good, and not too difficult.
