I have tried to learn how 2 use bebop scales but it seems awfully complicated. Is it what gives jazz it's kind of jazzy sound. I'm really wanting to learn how to get that kind of sound. I already use blues scales, pentatonic scales, different modes, chromatic, but I still don't get that jazzy sound. It sounds more like a rock/metal solo, which isn't bad, but is not what I'm looking for right now.

So can someone tell me about these be bop scales?

try this,

ascending > F, Ab, A, C, D, Eb, E, F.

descending > F, E, Eb, D, C, Bb, Ab, A, F.

start improvising around with this for a while, its great for 12 bar blues, its upbeat, and it has that sophisticated chromatic sound to it.

sooner or later youll have to abandon scales altogether and base every note on the chord you are playing through :/ i frikken hate my comping class
