V-Piano (http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=978&ParentId=72)

Well, it's basically a physical modeling piano....

Lol... they always used to say how digital pianos are really expressive and now they are telling us that digital sampled pianos "meet their limits"

What happened to the time, when all you needed was 1 acoustic piano... jeez...

Nevertheless, it's quite impressive... And it would be also cool, if it would include physical modeling electric piano... why not? It looks like one...

A gate valve (http://www.yonglongvalve.com/), is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the fluid.
????? That was random:confused:

Anyway, seems pretty cool, but I think I'll stick with acoustic instruments for now:cool:

In case you haven't noticed, this forum is overrun by spammers.

Yeah, from now on, I'm investing only in analog equipment... piano emulations? Get a VST for gods sake...

I guess I'll have to hear the "never-before-head futuristic hybrids" before saying I'd still get a Nord Electro 3 before this.

Well I've been wondering when somebody would come up with this. But if it's probably going to be a lot more expensive than sampled piano's then I don't think it's worth it.

I don't care about freaky hybrid piano's, I just want a realistic contemporary tuned piano. But the elimination of velocity switching is very cool. Modelling could be the future, since sampled pianos are getting a bit too crazy (http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2009/01/17/wnamm09-the-biggest-virtual-piano-ever/). 120 samples per key? Come on!

I think it's good that Roland are pushing the envelope into physical modelling territory, especially of stuff like pianos where feel is very important - it's probably more my imagination than anything else, but i've always preferred to play a PM'ed piano than a sample set; they just seem to feel more natural to me.

Regardless of this, it'd be nice to see physical modelling take off in a big way with support from the majors - getting kinda bored with subtractive synthesis.
