View Full Version : I would like to know if Weymolith from Mike's forum is a moderator here too...
Because I said something sarcastic on Mike's forum, noone found it insulting or anything, conversation went on, but I was banned just for this (rule13, anybody can see it, it is about insulting not sarcasm). This is not in their forum's rules, that someone cant be sarcastic. So I just dont get it and I dont know, if I can say sarcastic things here without banning. Its sarcastic again, because I said such things and I am here :D
I told, that I dont get Mike's Never Enough lyrics, its like he has a tormented life because the selfish fans while he lives any other people's dream. He travels the world every 2 year, has top instruments, recording the world's top studios, living in a castle. The other forumers got it that its a sarcastic opinion, but Weymolith banned me.
So, I just dont get people on forums. Is it a low irritation threshold? A moderator doesnt like a member's opinion and ban him? Strange.
I think Mike doesnt need such defense system around his world from people with such opinions like me. Or does he? In this case, I have an opinion I wont write here :)
Strange, in Hungary, I can tell my opinion (I know its not always creamy and tasty, hahaha) to any band, musician on their forums without any hard feelings.
Anyway, here's the link
http://www.mikeportnoy.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=2134611&mpage=4
If it worth a ban, then half of that topic could be banned from the forum beacuse of their opinion.
Peace
PS.: Sorry for writing this here on Jordan's forum but I felt this way. I know sometimes Im a hard tempered man, and I thank all of you tolerating it :)

As far as I am concerned Weymolith isn't on this forum. I guess he's too busy at MP's place. But damn.. What a stupid reason to ban a member! I always thought that he was being sarcastic when he spoke about bans.
Apparently I was wrong.
I discussed it with Weymolith, its a 2week ban, because there were abuse reports from members. And I wanted so hard to be a member and then I say such things. A present to Mike and my opinion of the band right now aren't in connection I think.
Anyway I wont re-register to Mike's forum. If people report me on that site to the moderator just because my opinion, and this could result a ban, than I really sorry that Mike has such childish fans.
I never understood blind praisers, who dont accept other opinions.
I regged to the forum to post some pics about the model-drumkits we wanted give to Mike as a present (yeah, I want insult him), but the pics doesnt made it to Mike. So thats it.

I think the thread you're referring to may have been deleted...because in that link I can't find what you're talking about.
But anyway, Weymolith isn't a moderator here. I'd like to think that discussion can be a little more open here as we seem to have somewhat less in terms of regular posting users and arguments are few and far between.
I do think sometimes MP's forum can be run a little too strictly sometimes, but if that's the way they want to run it, that's up to them. If people don't like it they can stop going :)
Are you the guy who's friend made the small versions of Mike's drums? They were cool.
Salty, the link is working, but if it isnt for you and want to read the topic, its the 'Dream Theater and loudness war.
And yeah, my friend made the kits, I'm glad you like it.'

First off, I have to say, it's the second time you bring up something here that happens on and belongs to another forum.
The rules on MP.com are there for a reason, it was needed and is still needed as it has showed many many times..
If you said at MP.com what you were saying in your first post in this thread, then I don't think it's stranged you were banned at all.
To me it's kind of an insult to Mike and not an opinion and so it seems other people thought like this as well.
You have to be careful with the way you write things on the Internet...
Believe me, I have made more than enough stupid mistakes and learned from them the hard way..
BTW, idp, did you know that Never Enough isn't about the fans at all ??
I understand you didn't want to insult Mike or anyone, but taking this to another board isn't the right thing to do, specially when you already talked it over with Wey

No, but I am a member and read the site regularly.
You violated the rules of the MP.com. Rule 13 to be specific.
Most importantly, The Forum is for Mike Portnoy / Dream Theater FANS. Critiquing the band *is* allowed, BUT will be watched carefully by the moderators, in case the posts turn into insults.
Not only myself, but other members who reported your posts felt you were moving beyond critiquing the band to insulting them, and you were given a two week ban for it.
I don't see how complaining about it on another site is going to help any.
BTW, idp, did you know that Never Enough isn't about the fans at all ??
Well at least the lyrics are, according to Mike.

Well at least the lyrics are, according to Mike.
Really ? I thought it had more to do with other people in Mike's environment.
Dear lutima.mp!
Please really explain it, whats insulting in my first post? And, oh, by the way, what things in it are not true? And whats wrong with talking about things happening on another forum? What was the other traumatic thing I talked about here? :) There are not just one topics started with links to other forums and we discuss them here.
'I told, that I dont get Mike's Never Enough lyrics, its like he has a tormented life because the selfish fans while he lives any other people's dream. He travels the world every 2 year, has top instruments, recording the world's top studios, living in a castle.'
I dont get it how people can survive a day without nerve breakdown, if a thing like this is insulting, really.
And I didnt came here to whine, just I wanted to know, if I can keep my style without a ban, and I explained why I opened this topic. If I say for example, its just theoretical, that why didnt they released a dvd with such quality as this new one has, as a bootleg? Because the quality is not up to the commercial dvd standards. But its price is :) Its an insult too? Because my wallet says, it is. Maybe on mp forum its a ban, because some kindergarten has internet connection and children can write to the moderator, that ugly monsters doesnt praise their god, he dare question 1 or 2 things.
And someone said here, that the dvd is like someone handycamed it from tv. On mp forum, would it be an insult too? It must be, because Mike worked on it soooooo hard and +1 hard, so how dare that bastard say just that?
Anyway. Its over. I wont re register there because the stupidity factor about blind praising fans(respect to the exception). Its strange, here I use this sarcastic 'insulting' style, and no ban, there i write something, and voila. Why is that? Here I wrote about Jordans style very bad things, and we could discuss it, even Jordan wrote too. No instant ban, no members started emailing Salty.
Could we change the topic name to 'Appropriate style on fan forums, where's the limit?' And maybe can discuss it. Without banning anyone :) Or topic can be closed if noone is interested.

I don't think there's really much point in discussing it too much. It's been explained to you (and me privately) why the ban happened.
Different forums have different rules, different vibes and different bunches of people who take part in them.
MP's forum has always as long as I can remmeber been exactly the way it is. Things that are percieved by the moderators, or reported by users as being disrespectful to the band or it's members are against the rules. They're their rules, and they adhere strongly to them.
And like I said, the userbase on MP.com is much bigger than here, so there is going to be a much wider interpretation of things that are said.
We like to keep inter-board arguments to a very very slim minimum, which is why it is looked down on if you get banned from one forum and come and complain about it on another forum.
We all have our own vibes and our own rules and that's what makes each of the sites individual.
The fact of it all is, you did something that was considered innapropriate and suffered the consequences for it. It's been explained why, lets move on with other things :)
