I'm gonna have an small event with concert concept. And my friend will play acoustic guitar.
And my question is how to connect acoustic guitar to the main mixer to get a good sound?
Better directly or by an amp?
Reasons are needed...

You have four options:
1.: The guitar has a built in pickup. Then you can go via an active DI-Box. Active is needed, because the signal from a piezo pickup is quite weak.
2.: The giutar has a built in pickup and goes into an acoustic guitar amp. Most of htese amps have an integrated DI that sends the balanced signal to the foh.
3.: The giutar has a built in pickup and goes into an acoustic guitar amp, then put a mic before the amp. This is the most uncommon way to do it.
4.: place a pair of good mics in front of the guitar. This will give the best results, but if you play in a lout envorinment, this will cause trouble too.
I'd go for option 1 to have it easy, and to option 4 to have the optimal sound. Most bands and foh technicians prefer option 1, as it is easy to install, works without feedback, even when the monitor will be directed to the giutar and the foh has full comtroll over the mix without unwanted additional signals.

i'd go with a DI unless you really want to spend time setting up a good mic.

Hammond Toby,
I would go with number 1 (same like mmichaelc), because we won't buy an amp for this event, altough we will also rent the DI Box from the SoundSystems-rental.
Thanks for the fast responses...

You could buy one, if you need it more often. I've got this one BSS AR-133 (http://www.sweetwater.com/c957--BSS--Direct_Boxes), but it's quite expencive. This one (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SDirect/) will also work without any problems.

BSS is expensive... I also won't use that, but my friend will... After my event, I think it won't be used any more...
Samson is okay...
