This year so far hasn't been particularly great IMHO. I was not too happy about the latest CDs I got:
- Marco Sfogli's debut "There's hope": Not bad, but doesn't compare to his playing on Alex Argento's "Ego" IMO.
- Hiromi's "Beyond Standard": A continuation of same music on the last album "Time Control" but kind of...meh.
- Greg Howe's "Sound Proof": Just bought it, and while it is great to hear him again with a new band, the compositions are nothing special, it sounds like one big jamming session.
The only exception was Uncle Moe's "Moe's Town" a collaborative effort from Scott Kinsey, Gary Willis, Bret Garsed, T.G. Helmerich, and Dennis Chambers. This CD is beyond fantastic. Up there with "Ego" and Planet X's "Quantum".
So, do you guys have any recommendation for new great progressive/fusion/electronica CDs that I should try? Having great synth/keyboard playing is a must

i've been into Porcupine Tree lately, and their new album 'Deadwing' sounds good. That's if you're into their type of prog..

Deadwing is not their last album but Fear of a Blank Planet and the latter is better IMO.
You can check Demians a French group, sponsored by Steven Wilson, it's really cool or Orenda (French too) which are mainly influenced by Dream Theater and here the keyboardist is totally crazy.

I've really been enjoying Ott's Skylon.

I dunno man, i thought this year's been pretty cool for proggers so far!
The Mars Volta's newest release "The Bedlam in Goliath" was great, as was Opeth's "Watershed".

I just bought Graveyard Mountain Home - Chroma Key (Kevin Moore's alias). It's quite good, especially if your into post-rock/semi-ambient stuff. It sounds like a more keyboard orientated version of Come On Die Young by Mogwai. Also, Mogwai's Happy Songs for Happy People is genius if your into that kind of thing.

"Nil" has been their latest release, but it's not a studio album, just an EP of "Fear" with some songs they had recorded at the same time as "Fear"

^^ I think De-Loused in the Comatorium would have been a better first choice for the Mars Volta..a lot easier to listen to than Bedlam IMO

I LOVE Chroma Key, but I heard the latest album is a soundtrack for a movie, a Turkish one IIRC, so it's different but I might wanna give it a try.

You can always check www.chromakey.com before buying. You can listen to all of the songs. Great music. I wish my CD store had some.

I think everyone on this forum needs to have this album (especially since 95% of the forumers are keyboard players):
Frost* - Milliontown
I picked it up upon JR's own recommendation on the forum and now I am a HUGE fan. It's keyboards gone wild! An epic masterpiece.

I forgot about this one, I did get it and it's really nice.
Do you guys have any Fusion recommendations? Anyone got Scot Kinsey's "Kinesthetics "? I just love Tribal Tech stuff and I really miss them, the Moe's Town CD sounded like Tribal Tech on crack and I liked it a lot, any similar stuff?
