I was wondering if anyone around here is into Frank Zappa. If you are, do you have a favorite album of his? what is it that like about it? I'd like to check him out and was wondering if anybody could pass on some sort of recommendations on where to start.

Man, I'm a huge fan of the guy! He absolutely was a musical genius.
He has so many awesome albums, and so many different albums. But be sure to check these out.
- Strictly Commercial (is a sort of 'greatest-hit' album)
- Chunga's Revenge
- The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life
- Hot Rats
- One Size Fits All
- Uncle Meat
I'm not sure if those are the best albums to listen to as a beginning listener. But, ah well, just try it. And tell me what you think!

I am a huge fan of Zappa. I mean DT showed me that music can be VERY good (they also inspired me to learn keyboards and composing)
But Zappa showed me how to appreciate NOISE. Plus he was a great person.
Studio Tan
Uncle Meat
Hot Rats
Apostrophe
I don't think he's a great guitar player (solos are sluggish, in my opinion. But that made it his style) but man, what a composer.
And all this is funny because I am actually learning St.Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast, which is extremely hard (by ear, for me at least)
