Is there anyone that younger than me (15 years old)?
If you are older, it's ok to tell here... Because I think I'm the youngest here...

Hey, well, i'm 16...
I thought i was the youngest member of this forum... It's good to know young people that also loves JR's work, and DT, and all that stuff...

I'm 16... I thought I was the youngest too...
And yeah... it's cool to see younger people liking JR and DT... the other fans in the town I live in are all around 30/40 who picked up DT when they started and stuck with them all the way, but only one other person in my school actually likes them
I suppose it takes a certain type of person to break away from the mould of typical rock/pop these days - 4/4 time, three chord progression (I, IV, V) - and take the more unusual side of music that DT, JR and other prog guys give...
I'm 15 aswell. Are you seeking young musicians lol?

We should share our e-mail's.... you know, to share information about our progress, methods, gear, knowledge, and that stuff...
it would be interesting and fun...

Two years away? No. Let's meet on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic (in between us) with a Zen Riffer each, and duel to the musical death!

!!!!!~_*THREAD DERAILMENT*_~!!!!!
ha your bid is safe.. I need an 88 key synth or controller before I even think about getting a keytar lol
but when I get one your dreams of one day being better than JR will be crushed under the might of my musical prowess!
we'll fight by the old navy rules - first one to die, loses!

Well, I'm 15.
And musician aren't suppose to think like this : every musicians are working together to develope the music.
I know you're just joking, but I think everyone should help each other instead of saying they will be better. I mean, there's a lot of keyboardist around, if someone is really good, even if he's not the better technically, he will be able to have success.
Well, you can continue now

i hate controllers, there's no point to them! they might as well be keytars!
what's your full sized keyboard right now?
!!! *the train has crashed* !!!
gylfih
06-23-2008, 07:13 AM
it pains me to say it, but my full size keyboard is a controller, and it has 49 keys... the M-Audio Keystation 49e... as basic as they come...
I hope for redemption by saying that I only got one this crap because, as a classically trained pianist, I thought that I'd only get a keyboard to mess around with and not take seriously, but now I've found that I really prefer keyboards to pianos, so I'm very annoyed about it now.
My plan is to get an 88 key controller (because my amount of VSTs makes a controller a better option sound-wise than a hardsynth) and then transform my 49 key controller into a fully fledged 49 key keytar with a lot of DIY and use of a lot of tools at my tech department in school . After that, I will go to Berklee and duel you with it!
I plan to make it like Jordan's old Zen Riffer, but 4 octaves instead of 2...
Heist
06-23-2008, 02:12 PM
sounds like you've got it all figured out
it shouldn't be a challenge putting some handles and a strap around your 49 key
i never got into VST's or any other "outside influences". i like to keep it simple and have one keyboard do it all.
the problem with that is....
the alesis fusion SUCKS!
but yeah what was this thread about?

Who don't want keytar? OF COURSE I WANT IT!!! $3,999... beautiful price:tongue: Btw, I like the Zen Riffer, which Jordan used in DT Tour 2007 & for Keyboard Magazine March 2008 cover, the color is cool!!!
I also want to have 88-note keyboard...
How about M3-88, Gylfih? Do you want it? With low price? Me too hahaha... I really love & want to have this keyboard and mix with Radias-R...!!!

I'd love it but I'm not going to get it. I just don't trust the guy...
@Heist - the keytar I want to build is a lot harder to do than you think. I'm gonna remove the outer casing, and completely rebuild it out of wood, in the shape of JRs Zen Riffer. I'm also going to try and find a wireless USB thing for it. It'll be a long project, but I think it's worthwhile.
By the way...don't let Jeebs or Grey Loki hear you say that the fusion sucks:tongue:

THE FUSION DOES NOT SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having pointed that out: instead of wireless USB you can get a wireless Midi kit for bout 150 euro's

it wasn't me who said it sucked, it was Heist!!!
I've thought about wireless MIDI but my keystation either runs off USB bus power or a 9V adapter, so I want wireless USB to be completely wireless. It's just so hard to find!
Sparky93
06-24-2008, 02:39 AM
nice!! Creative idea to re-build the casing!!
STOP BATTLE!!!
Gustavo
06-24-2008, 05:30 PM
why not do some kind of usb thing that gives power and wirless at the same time that runs on batteries?, though it may be too hard lol. You may be better off getting some keyboard that runs on batteries and rebuild it.
BTW im 16... i think XD

No more deals?
I'm currently 15 but I joined when I was 14. I've been into prog rock since I first heard Close to the Edge by Yes when I was 12. I started playing piano after that but Wakeman's minimoog solos gave a me a boner for analog synths. I then bought a midi keyboard (Casio WK-1630) and got a pirated copy of Arturia Minimoog V and was hooked ever since. Now all I got is my stock model K2500XS with 2 megs of sample ram. That thing is limited as hell in terms of sound capabilities. Now I just use a bunch of pirated VST's and a demo version of FL studio to run them.
And that's my biography.
I love Jordan Rudess to no end, and Dream Theater is the greatest band in existence.

I'm 14. I am the youngest in the forum. :frown: my birthday is in like 6 months...:frown:
I got into progressive rock music about a year ago, and I was drawn to it instantly, I just gravitated towards progressive rock music. I also purchased Jordan's "Rhythm of Time" and its an amazing piece of music! Jordan is my hero!
