Hey everyone,
Being a new Kurzweil owner (I have a Kurzweil 2600x only had it for about 7 months now) it took me a little (spending hours going through the manual) to figure out how to get the footswitch to scroll through my patches. yea yea, I felt really dumb once I figured out how easy it was....anway after finally figuring it out ,and being very happy with my accomplishment, everything was working fine, until I plugged in my midi interface (doesn't matter if the computer is connected or not.) I bought a simple one connection usb to midi interface for my laptop. Once I plug in the midi/in port to the Kurz, the footswitch decides now to scroll through 2 patches at a time instead of one incrementally. Does anyone know what could be going on here. I'm thinking there is a miscommunication in my midi set up, but the manual didn't seem to help very much.

Thanks
Brian

it's called midi echo - the midi takes the patch incriment *which is 96 on the kurzweil* and echo's what you do.
When you hit the pedal, the kurzweil keyboard portion sends it once, and then the computer echo's it and sends it again.

Turning midi echo off should fix this problem :)

Or let the footswitch just control the local keyboard, not the midi out.

Also check out if you use setups, that the footswitch is only set in one local layer, otherwise more zone will send dataInc and you'll also switchmore than one patch (doesn't matter when you are in program mode).

Thanks Guys,
I'll try that tonight when I go to practice. I'm thinking it's probably easier to just try to adjust the midi out in the footswitch screen. Even when the USB wasn't attached to the computer, just to the midi in/out it still did it. So that should solve the problem. I'll tell ya, I dabbled in midi about 10 years ago for a short time, but haven't touched it since, and I've never had a synth or workstation, at 27 I'm trying to learn all these things. Fortunately or unfortunately I'm pretty proficient with computers and I'm sort of my bands tech nerd, and being the keyboardist it's now my job. Thanks for the help, I'm sure I'll be asking tons of questions I can't find in the manual.
