Well, there is this italian pianist (Giovanni Allevi) that has very cool compositions.. So.. I want to kind of compose something like that..

What I can hear is that most of his songs use like a 3 or 4 note bass patern... I dont know what bass pattern is... What Ive always liked to use is... for example, the C chord (C, E, G) ... play the root, then the 5th then the 3rd (on the next octave) and it sounds kinda nice, but its missing something.

If anyone of you has heard Giovanni and could tell me what kind of patterns he uses, mostly a study of his playing.. Thanks :)

Do you use JR's online conservatory?
He's got some really awesome improvisation stuff.
and if combined with harmony exercises, and his leads exercises, you'll come out a serious expert in improvisation and have quite the ear...

the root -5-3-5 sequence is clled an alberti bass
