Hello there, this is my first post, i'm from caracas, venezuela!

Well, i've a motif rack es, a p-70 digital piano and a psr 2000

I'm about to buy new gear, and i think i need your help! These are my options, i'd like you tell me wich one you'd choose and why....

1) Korg Triton Classic used, with expansions and its SKB case. I think it has the MOSS, i'm not sure. I'd use with my motif rack es, to control it and some other things

2) Korg TR new, without sampler exp and without case. As the triton classic, i'd use it to control the motif rack es

3) Korg M3 new, without any expansions. To buy it, i need to sell the motif rack ES, and maybe the psr 2000... Is this a good option?

I've seen some videos about the M3, and it looks very awesome...
I want to make prog metal, i've a band, and i also rec my own things... I want to be able to change the patches with a footswitch pedal, without taking hands on the gear (i mean, pressin bottoms and that)...

Thanks!

Hi and welcome!

I never played a Korg TR, so I can't helpt you with this.

I owned a Triton Classic 76 and at the moment I play a Korg M3 61. In my opinion, The M3 isn't that much better than the Triton Classic. If you need KARMA, then go for the M3. The ability to use the screen as a controller is fun, but I actually don't need it. Shure it has more and better effects, but I'd rather save the money.
With both workstations, you hear a gap when changing sounds. Unfortunately the M3 is slower so the gap is a little bit longer. This is one of the reasony why I'm going to sell the M3 and replace it with a KURZWEIL PC3X (which has not been released, yet).

Did you ever think about Kurzweil (K2600, PC2 or the new PC3)? In europe the PC3x is even cheaper and for me, it has everything I need.

Triton sound engine is pretty good - I had a change to examine one pretty closely!
Well, you will be disappointed on some aspects, but IMHO it has powerful effect section (more powerful than Fantom x), but it has much less sophisticated synth engine.
But most sound sound pretty sweet - I'm thinking about organs, synth sounds, strings etc. (strings are not that realistic, but they are "playable"). Your motif ES rack will compensate the lack of good piano/acoustic sounds.

Don't go with TR, you will pay more for it than for second hand Classic, but you will get less features.

Edit: and yes - sell your Psr anyway... they suck - only good for playing 10 minutes before you go to sleep.

if you're thinking Korg on a budget, and used isn't an issue Forget about those, get a used Titon Extreme its far more developed than a classic and far more powerful than a TR and a classic, its great for covers work it will get along great with the motif.

Yes the M3, its better but i think its not the right time to jump on that wagon, perhaps in a year when the expansions are out.

Why do you want a Korg rompler in the first place if you have a Motif ES rack? The Motif outdoes anything that those Korgs could do.

If you need it for the controller, get a controller keyboard.

If you need a workstation (aka you need a sequencer and/or sampler) get a Fantom S or X6 (or 7).

If you want more sounds, get something like a VA that will do things the ES doesnt.

Or, if you just want a fun as hell synth that can do a lot of cool stuff and work well with the ES, get an EX5.

It amazes me the kind of money people are willing to blow on gear that they dont seem to have any idea of how or why they will use it, just because they want "more".

And you should definitely sell the PSR. That thing serves no purpose in your rig.

Thanks for your answers!

Well, here it's imposible to get a Kurzweil... i'd love...
Here the fantom is to much expensive, it's near 5000$ (remember my country isn't good in its economy)...
Really, i need the sampler option and the sequencer, and, as i said, to be able to change sounds from a footswitch... The controller option isn't good at all, the only thing you see here it's M-audio, and i don't have good experiences with m-audio...

So, the best combination in my situation would be the Triton classic plus the motif rack ES?

And another question, what Karma is exactly??

Si lo consigo en precio razonable! De verdad que acá los equipos son excesivamente caros (si los llegas a conseguir)...

Just putting it out there: A new Fantom X, they've become quite alot cheaper since the Fantom G came out (at least here in Denmark, guessing they have in other countries too)
