Juan,

I hope you post your thoughts soon, I really want to know about key action and build quality before I get mine which will be in a week or two. :D I take it that you've bought this without seeing or playing one as they don't seem to be in the shops in the UK as yet....

Well a friend of mine owns a music store so he`s the official dealer of M-Audio for Costa Rica so he ordered a couple and I`m gonna buy one of them. He called me and told me that the order is on the way so I`ll have to wait maybe a couple of weeks to get it.
The main reason I thought about the Keystation pro is that I needed a 88 weighted keys controller and Studiologic besides that they`re very heavy, doesn`t have anything near from the features that this new beast has, and of course there`s the price issue....

anyway I`ll let you know

Can't wait, will be cool getting your opinion, I'm gonna get one anyway I decided. M-Audio are a massive company with a rep for making quality gear, If this board is as good as it looks then I'm gonna be very happy when I get mine. :D and will go nicely with my M-Audio Duo interface, M-Audio Monitors and Computer Rig...

There's an exclusive review of it in this month's Keyboard
by John Krogh.

Not surprisingly, it got a Key Buy award.

One thing I'd really like to know, is about the 10 only memory locations.
Aren't they too limited for live performance?

I think there are 10 locations but they`re for setup storage, meaning that you can store the 24 assignable knobs, the 16 buttons and the 9 faders in 10 different combinations. Sounds like lot of space to me!

Well... but I dn't actually understand how I can really set-up my programs (on the keyboards itselt or a PC), let's say 100 programs at least, and recall them in live situations from the keyboard, using the keypad, etc....

Is this actually possible with Keystation Pro 88?

All the reviews I read talk about studio works, etc... but... can Keystation be a good keyboard for live stuff, too?

I did one test this morning using SynthEdit, using this program for organizing 128 GM performances, any of which could be simply a loaded pre-build VSTi synth, or a more complex chain (allowing infinite layer possibilities, effects set-up for the various programs, event different depending on the layers, etc.....), and controlled it through a home keyboard for kids (Yamaha PSR-79) connected via MIDI, and changing teh GM patches on the keyboard actually selected among the performances I had set-up on SynthEdit.

I could also save the single programs, both as SynthEdit modules or as VSTi instruments, and even the entire set-up, with also the possibility (I did it) of importing it all as a single VSTi on a track of Cubase XS, still controlling it thru that kayboard.

I did this test without having mush experience with SynthEdit (this was actually the first time I used it hardly), so... I imagine the possibilities could be really a lot, and... most of all, simply using the Keystation for sending GM program changes could allow me to actually use it in live performances, with the possibility of completely change the set-up simply loading a different file in SynthEdit of a differenth VSTi in Cubase SX.

I didn't test this, but... I should be able this way to control external devices too, simly setting a atch that sends a program change to an external module, etc... still controlling it all from the Keystation, through SynthEdit (which is fre, but... great, and can also be used for creating personal instruments).
